MBOX Boot loop - How to flash the firmware? Which is the firmware to download? (M8S Android Box)

Hi all,

I have a M8S Android Box and when it starts appears the MBOX Logo in boot loop. The home screen is not shown.

Then, I started in recovery mode (with toothpick) and at the top of the screen there is the following writing:


Android Recovery Mode
Android/rk3128_box/rk3128_box
7.1.2/NHG47k/akrd-509091437
...
...


From this I deduce that this box mount the rockchip chipset and precisely rk3128.
But I can't find the firmware for flash it.
I following this guide (https://www.entertainmentbox.com/lat...ware-download/) but when I try to upgrade the firmware with the sd card obtain "Failed to map files".

How to resolve the problem? Maybe the firmware downloaded is wrong.

I tried to wipe data and partition table but the problem remains.

Are you realy sure it is RK?
I belive it is AML cause they Show MBOX and this is always AML.

Hi ,

u can better use a PC for flashing , u need

1. Firmware ".img" File (rigth one )

2. RK Drivers 4.5

3 . Flashtool / AndroidTool 2.35 or higher / or Batchtool 1.7 or 1.8 ,

then follow this Instructons :

@gefattern: Hi, I tried with pc but my pc doesn't recognize the box maybe due the usb cable that doesn't work. I have a SD CARD of 2GB and I'm trying many firmware but with negative results.

I just tried this firmware (https://chinagadgetsreviews.com/down...8s-tv-box.html) copying the extract files on root sd card but when I apply update from sd card in recovery mode, I obtain the the following output:

E: Failed to map files
Installation aborted.

Any suggestion?

to be sure what CPU is used , please open up and look , otherwise we can not really help ,

so that must be the next step , maybe we have to move the Thread if no RK , look and post

the results , maybe really a AML .

Hint : some , clear nearby Pictures would help too (good light)(both sides)

it really looks like , but to be sure , open up is the best ,

we dont even know what Wifichip is used ,

so if there are Roms the right one must be found first ,

if available , small Hint the Rom you tested is for AML

Boxes with S812 Chip , cant work , never .

Please try the "wipe data/factory reset" option , if not

already tested ,

we must find the right Rom then a restore is possible .

Yes, I already tried the "wipe data and factory reset" (and also the wipe cache partition) but without resolve the problem.

the Numbers suggest it can be a RK Box , u only know if u look under the Heatsink ,

but that is not really needed , if the Box is recogniced by PC and a RK Flashtool , it is

for sure a RK Box . Now we must find a working RK3128 Rom , please what Wifichip

is used ???

you can ask in a already existing Thread , look for right Thread to add .

How do I view which wifichip is used?

I tried the rom that you have posted, I wrote it on SD CARD (with Rockchip SD Card Tool following this guide https://chinagadgetsreviews.com/down...tool-v1-4.html) but when insert the SD CARD in Box in recovery mode and click on "apply update from sd card", the box doesn't view any files to update.

I'm using the sd card because the usb cable doesn't work (the pc doesn't view the box) .

However, this tool to write on sd card should be to work correctly. What is the problem?
