Using Root Explorer to make flashable file?

I do as much as I can from my phone as possible, makes it easier for the wife to handle if I spend less time in front of the computer at home, lol. So I have a couple questions. Root Explorer won't let me drop files into a zipped folder. Will it flash ok if I unzip it, drop the needed files into the folder, then rezip the installer zip? Do I need to sign the file with Zipsigner before flashing? This might be a nice addition to the thread if there is other users like me who do more with their smart devices vs a pc. Thanks for this! Anxious to try it with Finless 1.6!

No, if you uncompress and compress it, it need to be signed.
You can do it from terminal emulator with busybox installed.
      zip file.zip kernel.img boot.img system.img
All the files, the template zip and the img files in the same folder.

Sorry, I've never tried this with Terminal before. I tried searching before asking and didn't come up with anything. Will you please give me the commands to do this successfully? Thanks!

Copy to the root filesystem the img files you want to install, and the cwm-img-installer.zip
The command in terminal emulator is:

            zip cwm-img-installer.zip kernel.img system.zip boot.zip

Remember that before you need to have busybox installed. Download and install it from Google play.

Thank you! Well I must be doing something wrong. I believe I did everything to the T, and it won't work. Good news though, Astro File Manager lets you copy all the files over to the cwm-img-installer.zip w/o having to unzip it!

I'm running Arctablet's rooted stock 005 fw on my Minix Neo X7. Is it ok to take the system.img from the Official Minix not rooted pre-006 fw, make a flashable zip and flash it over the rooted 005?

Mix rom parts is unpredictable, but in your concrete situations, it must work. But not sure, a nandroid backup is a good idea before you change anything.

Ok, another user corrected me before I tried this, and told me there is a difference from Arctablet's rooted stock rom to a rooted Minix 005 fw. So I have a new question. The new official/non-rooted Minix 1080fw pre-006b file only contains one .img file (which I believe would be a system.img due to it's size. Is it ok to flash just this .img file using your empty zip im CWM since it doesn't contain a kernel.img and a boot.img, and will this give me a clean install w/o anything left over from my custom/rooted 005 fw?

No, the big update.img used by stock roms are not usable for this zip. This file is only a container and the specific file.img are inside, you can use wendal tool to uncompress them from windows or rktools to uncompress them from linux, and then take the part that you want.
This zip only can flash kernel.img; system.img and boot.img

                            Hey,
Thanks for your time abd helpx mate. Really appreciate it a lot!
                            But, Sorry. Lost you somewhere.

Foe example, id like to take neomode 1.3 Rom for UG007b. Inside there are alot of folders like driver, Rockdec etc.

So, what I should doing is unzip this file, find those 3 files: boot.img, kernel.img and system.img - and zip those 3 seperately inside one zip.

                            Do I get it right?

What is the signed thing you've been asked about in this msg? Should I sign this zip somehow in order to flash it correctly in recovery?

If I should to sign, how do I do that?

Btw, i've been trying to flash it this way (those 3 filea on a zip, whithout signing anything) and I got a msg "flash aborted" after a few seconds it started to flash.

No, you need to drad and drop those files (boot.img, kernel.img and system.img) in the first post zip, then reboot to cwm recovery, and then install the zip.
