Ok so I have the tablet rooted, I have superuser access, I have Appinjector.apk and package.zip in the mnt/sdcard

Still getting the No Applications found: click to exit

Also I am accessing the files through the file manager that comes default with the tablet, should I be using something else?

I downloaded and installed the root explorer version pointed to in the sticky here:

Just make sure you hit download on the right thing since there is an exe for some adware on the page too. It was nice to have a non-pay version this morning when I was walking through the procedure (since I needed it to get Play working in the first place) but I did later buy it when I could access through Google Play.

Note that is not to say that it is going to fix your problem, but i have used both the stock one and the root explorer and RE is a greatly superior product.

CAN I MAKE SURE you are doing it right please.
So with the physical SD Card removed you did get package.zip copied to the internal sd card? e.g. you can open a file explorer and see it even with the SD card removed?

Please make sure before I chase a mistake trying to fix it.

FYI the APK expects the zip, so unzipping is not going to help.

That is 100% correct as it stands right now I have superuser access, I have the sd card removed and in the /mnt/sdcard location I have the appinjector.apk and the package.zip sitting there and still nothing.

I was able to play around a little bit and get the script to run part way, to delete the old files. However, in my impatience, I just ended up unzipping the replacement files and installing them with RootExplorer - which, for me, seems to have produced the same end result. Thanks for the files!

Again my thanks to everyone, for their hard work! I hope you folks keep right on working on getting the install script to function, and if a manual install will cause me problems later, then by all means, Finless, speak up.

I'd like to try out getting CyanagenMod to install, but I am quite busy for the next day or two getting ready to head out of town for a couple weeks, including a job interview tomorrow. I see that people have pulled THAT off to an extent, but at THIS rate of progress, by the time I can get to it again, you folks should have it all down pat. At this time, the possibility of bricking the tablet gives ME the WILLIES.

Should work fine! Basically this is what App Injector does e.g. copies the files to /system/app

With this being said, should I try deleting the old framework apk and manually installing the new one? Then installing the GooglePlayStore.apk? Finless would I run into the same problems of not being able to download new apps and having the play store crash?

Dont delete them. Just rename them to .old. This way you can always name them back if needed.

Question Finless, I moved the Vending.apk app to the system/app and I have the permissions screen open for the vending.apk file (using root explorer) there are Owner, Group, Others and Read, Write, Execute, so for all the boxes are check other than, Others - Write box. Should that be clicked.

And I am a little bit too lazy to read the whole thread. So can anyone tell me where is your sdcard mounted, so that the injector looks there for an application package? Thanks in advance. And if you have in mind any other places I should check, please let me know.

Thanks for the answer. That is also my guess for a lot of devices.
Update : if you have anymore answers, let me know, I will put them as a fallback it my method doesn't work, but I think I just found the "clean" way to get the sdcard location from the android system
