Changing Screen Density For Smaller screens

    Hi all!

Hoping someone can help with this. I have a CX-919 and I am trying to change the screen density to a larger size for viewing (from a distance) on a 32inch TV. I am able to successfully do it on 4.1.1 with a density setting of 260. It looks/works great... no issues. I got lucky when I discovered it works at 260 because that is the only size larger than 160 (default) that works.

On 4.2.2 however, I cannot get it to work. The navigation bar disappears and the screen is all twisted up. Sometimes it would display an error about the System UI or crash/reboot. I literally tried every density setting between 161 and 320 and I did not get lucky like I did with 4.1.1.

I have tried it with every ROM on freaktab that is compatible with this unit. You can probably imaging how much time it takes to change the density and reboot that many times.

Has anyone else tried to do this or want to do this, or could lead me to do it?

I know 240 works as I use it on 1080P kernels.

Never tried higher than 240 because it can really screw up some google apps.

Thanks Finless! I'll give it another try with a 1080p kernel.

I've learned all the stars need to align to get this to work.

      Much appreciated!

I tried a couple roms and 1080p kernels but its not what I hoped for.

1080p kernel @ 160 is tiny on a little screen. Looks good on my 70inch lol!

1080p kernel @ 240 is displayed the same as a 720p kernel @ 160. I want Bigger! I tried a few other density values also.. 260, 320, 360. It seems like anything over 240 in a 1080p kernel is the same result of anything over 160 in a 720p kernal.

If you ever have your ROM (finless14) with 4.1.1 fashed, try a density of 260. Its wild but everything (I've tried) works!lol

you can change density for tests on the fly trought adb.
just use "am display-density 160" command
its way faster to test things this way
Everything is possible if we work together!
