So far, nobody had reported that problem.
You can either flash 1.3, or try the last Pipo firmware to see if the problem is in the firmware.
I don't think I removed anything to do with the camera.Randy

Because this tablet has no physical volume buttons, that's why its impossible to navigate in CWM Menu, not unlike the tWRP recovery which is touch-based navigation. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciated it

RE: Antenna
Finally had the courage to pry open mine, I had a hard time opening it due to the lack of a gap or seam on the aluminum shell and plastic.
Bent the aluminum outwards a bit and got a bit of headroom, checked for Wifi Connection and I've found a long coax cable soldered to the board flimsy looking but sturdy and the other end to some sort of internal antenna sticker think linksys antenna but sticker version.
After confirming that mine is connected, I came to the conclusion that the aluminum shell was a bad idea on Pipo's part. There's nothing I can do on the Wifi reception at all.
My Wifi setup is good but the receiver on Pipo is just crappy, can't do much on it; even if I increase the transmit or gain from the Wifi, the return signal is pretty much poor with this setup.
I'll probably flash to 1.5 when it comes out, not using the tablet as of late.
I'll post a picture tomorrow

Hey Riley,
tanks for your amazing work! I'm quite astonished to see a flawlessly working custom rom in so little time after the tablet has been released (for my phone it took 1,5 yrs until a crom popped up that is indeed better than stock). I have a few questions, however:
1.
I was wondering whether there's any progress on CWM/TWRP for the tablet. I tried the generic one, but it was pretty useless as there's neither soft nor hard key support to control it.
2.
Second, and somewhat related, is there a possibility to center the clock in the notification bar? I tried to use apktool to manipulate SystemUI but it keeps crashing when I recompile it (tried several aapt, apktool.bat, and apktool.jar versions...).
3.
I don't know whether it's a hard- or software bug, but my U8 can't connect to the phase2-authentication wifi-system in my uni (PEAP-MSCHAPV2). When installing WIFI Manager it's working, although quite buggy. With standard wifi networks I don't have the wifi problems other users are reporting. Shouldn't be JB4.2.2 specific as my phone is running that too and has no problems at all.
4.
Lastly, what tools are you using to create this rom?

Lastly, what tools are you using to create this rom?
1. I use the CWM recovery from our friend FUN. Here is a link to his site:
Fun has created custom versions of CWM for specific device with those control issues and takes requests for more...but he is a very busy man, and takes a long time to do so. You are welcome to ask him to create a specific CWM for the U8. If he does one, I would be happy to include it in future ROM's.
2. In the early days of RileyROM's, I tried doing some UI modifications to suit my tastes, but found that most users wanted to have a plain stock look...so I quit adding my tweaks. I have found an app called Xposed Framework which allows you to add modules to your device to make changes in UI settings. It works pretty well. This is for Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1574401 This is for a good repository of modules you can run with it: http://repo.xposed.info/
There is a module that moves the clock to the center...I've tried it, but I can't remember which one it is.
3. It's possible that the Rockchip SDK doesn't support that level of security. While Android is widespread, there are major differences in the Android features and setups between manufacturer's of CPU's and devices in general. Those items are chosen by the developer who makes the kernels. There may need to be a ko module made to get that to work. That's the first time I have heard anyone trying it.
4. Honestly, my kitchen is made up of tools we Freaktab developers have shared back and forth. Many of which came from the Rockchip SDK downloads...and many have been made by our developers. There is one good source for developer tools...http://www.rockchipfirmware.com/developers-corner. That site has a bunch of good stuff. Also XDA is a good place to look.Randy

Thanks for your answers! Xposed Framework is definitely one of the best tools I've seen for a long time! You can install the "XBlast" and/or "Gravity Box" modules from inside the Xposed app and what I wanted to do (center the clock & change it's color) is done in a few minutes...
I asked Fun for a U8 specific version. If something will happen in that regard i'll post it here.

1.4 feels more responsive than 1.2

Had some free time this sunday so I'm currently downloading version 1.4, will flash later.
It went straight to the android OS like usual.
How do I activate rescue mode again? I haven't cleared the cache partition yet...
Running mine in 12/4 partition since I'll add a microSD card later on anyway.
Riley thanks as always.

Seems like you flashed with CWM before on some other device... If you followed riley's instructions, you used the "Erase NAND" command in the Rom flash tool and thereby deleted everything (including the cache!) before the installation of the rom. Thus, no need to clear the cache...
Besides that, I think the "reboot" app is preinstalled with rileyrom. If you start it, you can choose "recovery" - or turn off your device and press "Esc" and "Power" simultaneously until the recoverydroid is visible. However, for me it's just starting something what looks like a recovery without any input possibilities and reboots to android after a minute or so - maybe I have to reflash the recovery...
