I have recently bought an Akai Android Box TV 4k Ultra Hd, ARM Cortex A7 Quad Core Processor with 1Gb Ram, 4 usb port and one HDMI port. The firmware version is 4.4 KitKat. The first time I switched on the device, the screen was stuck on the Akai logo. The LED on the box has always remained blue. After changing different HDMI ports on the TV several times, the screen has changed to green. I tried to reset the box several times by pressing the button inside the A/V port, the LED went from blue to red without giving signals on the TV screen. The current situation is no signal on the tv screen and LED stuck on blue. I also tried to connect the box to the PC, the blue LED lights up but the box is not recognized. The TV is a HD ready Graetz model. Do you have any suggestions ? could I install a new firmware? if so where do I find it and how do I proceed to the installation? Are specific drivers needed to be able to connect the box to the pc? Sorry for the thousand questions but I'm a beginner and I wouldn't trashing the product without first having tried different solutions. Every suggestion is much appreciated, thanks in advanced

Hi Everyone,

Hi gefattern,
First of all thanks for your reply. I have opened up the box and i think the PCB is xt-MX4N-V21. I am not able to upload pictures at the moment but i hope the information i gave you is useful enough to let me know how to proceed. Do you think there is anything i can do ? unfortunately i can't bring the box back to the store as i lost my receipt. Thanks again for your time.

Hello FrancePri
Welcome to freaktab. As gefatten as said its hard to tell if you have Amlogic or a rockchip device from your photos (If the box was running we could check it with cpu z and that would tell us for sure)
Im thinking its a rockchip device and it looks much the same as this box but cant say for sure.Take a look at that thread and see if the PCB looks the same as yours.

Hi Blinkone,
Thank for your reply, I really appreciate your help. I have checked the thread and it looks like the same PCB. Also my box seems to have the same specs as the V88 4K. At this point what are the steps I should take ? I wasn't able to connect the box to the pc (stuck on blue light) is there a driver I need to install ? I have windows 10. Is there a firmware I can download to update my tv box ? Thanks again guys

First you will need to find a rom..You should be able to get one from the thread i mentioned before.Use an older rom dont go straight for the newest i would go for a android 5 rom
Theres a few ways to flash the rom this is one of them using the Batch tool
First download the driver assist (In the driver assist click uninstall driver first then install )
Then download and install the batch tool and run it with admin rights
A rough guide to flash it with the batch tool (You may need the power cable and may not)
Another guide here and another here
Good luck

Also only one of the ports on the tv box will work for flashing its normally the one next to the SD card slot but after watching a few videos on the v88 it looks like the correct port to use is the rear USB portLast edited by blinkone; 31 January 2019, 13:59.Please consider making a Donation to freakTab

Hi Guys,
I managed to get it fixed. I had to open up the box and short pin 29 and 30. I used Rockchip batch tool v 1.8 to load the firmware and install the tv box drivers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcQxQ8bHyR4 this guide was very helpful as I had the exact same model. Hope I can help someone that has the same problem as me. Also I installed firmware version 6.0 and I can see it lags a bit especially when I watch high resolution videos or browse on internet. Do you guys think this has to do with the firmware or it's just the cpu not powerful enough ?
