mounting external sdcard as internal sd card

Hello, has anyone managed to mount the external sdcard as internal card.
I was googling around and i found out that if i edit the vold.fstab file i can get the result that i`m looking for.
I opened the file and i found this two lines:
"dev_mount flash /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/virtual/mtd/mtd9/mtdblock9"
"dev_mount sdcard /mnt/external_sd auto /devices/platform/rk29_sdmmc.0/mmc_host/mmc0"
I guess the first line mounts the internal nand memory as sdcard while the second line mounts the external_sd
Now this is just guessing and i would like to be a little bit more sure before trying it, so if anyone knows pls share, if this are the lines that i need to swap to mount the external sdcard as internal?????

well i bought today a 16gb sdhc card class 10 and it says 30mb/s and it is really fast. i did the vold.fstab change and the external card was recognized as nand memory and till here all is good. i moved some apps to the new sd card from the settings\apps and after that restarted. here is the big trouble part. the apps that were moved were reporting as not installed. i have the icons on the home screen but when i try to open the application it just says that the app is not installed. is there any command to fix permisions or is it smth that i`m missing. i cant get to maked it work as it should. really need some help. thx

What I did was, befor I applied the vold.fstab change I coppyed the entire internal sd card contents & pasted them to my 32Gb external sd then I applied the vold.fatab mod..but since you have already applied the mod your internal & external have already been swapped over so you may be able to do it the other way round,eg use es explorer navigate to mnt/external_sd copy the entire contents to mnt/sdcard that should work or you could un apply the vold.fstab mod reboot device coppy your entire internal sdcard to you external_sd card then reboot.

Well is the exact same thing with your vold.fstab. don`t get it why its not working. i have found a script for init.d that applies to the galaxy s4 for the memory swap. ill try to mod it and see if it fits for our devices. if it works im gonna share it here. cheers

well i have managed to copy the userdata.img material on the external micro sd card but i cant mount it.
what i want to do is that i want to mount it as the userdata.img. i manage to mount it at the /data point, the external micro sd card shows as internal memory and i can see that in the settings, but after 2 minutes the device reboots. any idea???

I think im mounting the external sd card with smth missing. I type from the terminal:
mount -r -w -t ext4 /dev/block/vold/179:1 /data
It gets mounted but i cant se the files or folders inside it

SDcard is vfat formatted usually. Your mounting with ext4. Wont work.

I formated in windows with the default fat32 format and just swaped the fstab lines and now i have a device with 6 gb internal memory (used the 6gb parameter) and 16gb sd card. NICE. Thx Bob.
I think im going to give up on the idea of using the external sd as main internal memory now that i switched it with the internal sd card
