Well, thank God after 2 days of trying ive managed to unbrick it. Buried away on the Chinese Huawei site, there is a firmware update which i downloaded. I then extracted the "dload" file from the zip file and placed it on my sd card and started the box and it installed! The firmware is in Chinese but you can change the language in the settings. Interestingly, the stock launcher has changed and it seems smoother. This firmware was dated the 25th of Oct so it must be a recent update.Im not sure how region specific it ,ill have to have a look in depth.

Nice work Batfink. I believe this product has only been released in China. Your right there is no information anywhere. I've called Huawei in Canada and USA and they tell me its not released yet. I'm watching a movie on xbmc right now and its smooth as silk.

Ahhh I see, well the firmware I have is all in Chinese with no option to change to English there's all sorts of Customised Chinese stuff , no Google Play either. I guess they'll release the English firmware at somepoint.

I noticed while watching a 1080 movie last nite the hw symbol in the top right corner. Does this mean its hardware decoding?

Just like Batfink32 I am having all kinds of problems running xbmc on this box. reefmonger, do you use external player with xbmc?

I can't figure out how to screen mirror. Maybe that feature is only supported on huawei products.

I can find out how to screen mirror either.

Apparently the Hisilikon Soc doesn't have libstagefright support therefore XBMC isnt compatible with it. You will have to use an external player. Also notice the CPU is clocked at a Max of 1.2 MHz, although the Hisilikon has a frequency of 1.5. I think its clocked at a lower frequency because the box gets quite hot.

what version of mx player are you using with? I can't get it(version Pro 1.7.19) to work with youtube videos though other add-ons seem to work just fine. Every time a youtube video is clicked I get "can't play the video" error message.

                          That makes sense.
Screen mirroring was one of the reasons I got this box, so it's a little bit disappointing not to be able to do that. Hopefully they would release an firmware update based on android 4.2 or higher which includes miracast support

YouTube in XBMC? It doesnt work on XBMC XAF as there are script errors in that version. You'll need to use the Youtube app.

yes, in XBMC. I found a fix online, sort of. You have to go into youtube add-on settings and change "Max video quality" to ask(default is 720p), downside of this is it asks you to select resolution every time a video is played. I still do get script error on some videos.
