    XBMC alternative

XBMC here XBMC there, seem XBMC is the nirvana, but I find it big, laggy, buggy etc...So if you only want a nice looking way to manage your movies or tv-series I suggest Mizuu, only 2mb and working fine with your remote computer or NAS via samba. I use it with mxplayer on my T428 and I am very satisfied. Here is the link for the free version, give it a try it is free:

I backup everything you have said , xbmc is not designed for our sticks , to scroll you have to pull
right side part of any menu , anytime you move your wireless remote the gui shows up even the
slightest movement , the internal player's performance in no where near something like mx player
due to the fact that XBMC uses a generic hw acceleration called libstagefright which in turn relies on
A software layer called omx components which brings down the video performance , also very slow
Seeking , no wireless xbox game pad support like xbmc for windows.

But on the other hand it has a better movie and episodes identification engine than mizuu
As mizuu uses themoviedb engine + some modification but xbmc can use its universal
scrapper which is better (on my library of 370 movies xbmc only missed 6 movies but mizuu
on the same library missed 28)

Also xbmc has an option of automaticlly downloading the movie subtitles and it is one of the big
Reasons i still use it until today.

Personally i use both but leaning towards using mizuu more.

Yes, XBMC is a pain in navigating, but what make it worst is the offset of the pointer

I don't know what are you talking about. Use nova launcher or any other with hide navbar option, that will solve problem with pointer offset. Comfy navigation depends on your controller and ability of key remapping. Also 1080p pays fine with hw acceleration, CPU speed is 300 MHz, so gpu is doing the job.

Only in 720p kernel which defies the purpose of watching 1080p video.
On 720p kernel i am able to run files that are up to 30G.B but still with very slow
          Seeking performance.

On 1080p kernel however i can't even run 8G.B. 1080p video file without stuttering
Too much , i have some 40-50G.B files but not many.

I will be happy if XBMC could play the same 30G.B or even 20G.B. file on 1080p kernel.
          But it can't

Mx player however can very easily play 48G.B. 1080p video files on 1080p kernel with instant
Seeking performance without any kind of overclocking (all files are usb playback)

I open this thread to inform that there is a way to have a nice simple management of movies and tv-shows without using XBMC. I install Gotham 8 and was surprise by the HW acceleration now available but still have trouble with the interface and setting. For example Mariano offer a way to make pointer work, but like all other thing in XBMC "in order to do that you need doing this and to have this you need to apply that".

Yes i purchased mizuu and using the full version for 5 months now , it is a very good app
Simpler than XBMC and to the point , like you i can't recommend mizuu enough for other
Users , except XBMC there is nothing like it on android.

                Archos

Did you try Archos opengl1971, because I just try it and I have been able to stream from my kd20 NAS some BluRay fulldisk by DLNA... It was the first time I could stream my 3D fulldisk files ( I only stream the 2D) by wifi. I also been able to stream my 1080p from the twonky server via wifi, with both internal and mx player with no problem.

I've found the Archos Video Player to be the one that suits me best (1080p tv episodes via upnp and local 1080p movies on sdcard)

BSPlayer works reasonably well and plays file across the network from Samba shares

[Edit] Actually I just run and installed all video players supporting Samba (including Archos and many others) and the best is "Dice Player" for me. I had some issues of slow playback with BSPlayer but Dice Player solved all of them.

Best as in there is a simple no frills folder view of all my samba directories and files.
