I cant figure how to root my jesurun K8 rk3188

I have been trying for hours. I cant get past the first step of getting my computer to acknowledge the device.

I put the K8 in usb debugging mode
I took the K8 over to my computer and powered it up
I plugged the device into my computer via a usb cable
I held the black button for a couple seconds
NOTHING happens on my computer to detect the K8

How the hell do I root this thing? I have been around computers my whole life and this is easily the most frustrating thing I have ever done.

    Please help

Could it be I need to use a OTG cable instead of plain usb cable?

          You opend the box?

          from picture..

you need a micro usb cable ( micro usb port on the side of stick --> to pc )
          boot both up..
windows detects.. mass storage device or says unknown device -no drivers found
install moborobo --this overwrites ms drivers..
run moborobo.. it detects your device and installs two apps onto the k8..
          Next 'quite/exit' moborobo..
run TPsarky.. to root device (proccess will reboot your k8 3times..and install busybox and supersu )

          thats it...
files needed can be found : www.rockchip.nl

          note..
most resellers do not include the needed 'micro' usb cable
The button on the 'stick' is only needed for 'recovery' or 'flash' firmware (and that also req a micro usb cable)

Here is the exact steps I took

            Took a part the case
            Located the micro usb
            Located the white/black push button
Verified that all usb ports (including the micro) are working
Booted up K8, went to developer options, set usb debugging mode on
            Unplugged K8
Rebooted up K8, verifyed that usb debugging mode stays activated after reboot
            unplugged K8
Went over to my desktop and plugged power for K8
            Booted up k8
Waited 2 min for sufficient time to boot up k8 (no way to visually see the unit with my computer monitor)
plugged in micro usb cable to my windows 7 desktop and then plugged it into my K8 micro usb slot
nothing happens... windows does not give any indication that there is anything plugged into it

I also attempted this with ALL normal usb ports.

I cant get windows to detect it.

Do I need a "otg usb cable" as compared to my normal usb cable?

Did you also make sure that Connect to PC is enabled on your K-R42(Settings -> USB)? (It's in the instructions on the previous ROOT post link download Zip file?

No, you don't need an OTG cable.

A plain micro usb will do.

I checked the box for pc connect under setting / usb

                  I unplugged my K8
I brought it over to my pc
                  I gave the K8 power
I waited 3 min for sufficient boot up time
I plugged in micro usb on my windows 7 desktop
                  I get nothing

anyone else ever have this problem?

                      Update:

I have tried multiple different micro usb cables
I have tried multiple ports on my desktop (i have tried usb3.0ports and usb 2.0 ports)

perhaps I need a otg cable?

verified the cable and usb port work with my samsung galaxy phone

this is the hardest task I have ever had to deal with in the world of electronics.

                        can anyone offer some insight?

It does sound rather odd indeed.

To help to establish whether there may be an issues with the port on the box, boot it up into flash mode (hold down the button underneath) and whilst holding it in, plug it into the PC and see if it attempts to install a driver.

so power up the K8 while holding the button? Or power it up, plug it in computer, and then press flash button?

You have to be holding the button in when you plug it into the PC so the PC sees it in a different way.

And stick to using a USB 2 port for the time being.

You should hear two beeps when it's plugged in.
