I cant figure how to root my jesurun K8 rk3188

I held the button down and plugged in the usb cord. Nothing happened.
I verified my usb cord and my usb 2.0 port works via my galaxy cell phone.


One thing I noticed is that there is a 2nd micro usb port on the phone. I have attached a picture showing this 2nd port. Mitchell4u had posted a picture at the beginning of this thread and his unit has a cable that looks to be plugged into port 1 and port 2 of the micro usb ports.



My micro usb cables are to thick to be able to plug into port 2. So i think I would have to cut one up with a knife. Think this port will work????

Any ideas?

I guess that it can't hurt to try as it might be last chance saloon.

Looking at these threads, it doesn't seem to be a well put together device, so it might be worth asking for your money back and get something else.

i wonder why the pictures I see of other models have a cable linking port 1 and port2. Perhaps thats an important key here

I've used that on a couple of devices and it never did any harm, even though it didn't work.

There are a number of automated tools out there like Superoneclick and I have tried quite a few in my time, without any issues, so personally I don't think that you will do any harm.

I think I'd be looking at a return and replacement/refund myself though.

Get a box that has everything that you need on the outside.

i see the pic with port1 and port2
however..

Take the one..where the mini-sdcard slot is.. ( right side of sd / micro usb )
--thats on most sticks the otg port..
----to release cable.. hold dows pins.. on top of the usb port

That pic you posted.. with port1/2 in red.. is that your unit?
if yes..
look where the power (positive) cable goes.. that the usb port needed

if not
--if you don't have this.. then send your unit back..
Somewhere on freaktab is post.. with a user how bought a mk802 v5 that also misses the otg usb port..
hey also got stuck with a non upgradeble bad unit..

I have had the same problem.
My K8 was delivered without the transarent plastic "LED window". Unfortunately I didn't have time to send it back to dx.com and go through all the hassle.
All in all, I wouldn't buy this device, nor would I buy anything from Jesurun, their products are really low quality.
Hope you manage to root your device.
I you succeed with rooting without usb-cable (if possible), please report your success.

Did you also make sure that Connect to PC is enabled on your K-R42(Settings -> USB)? (It's in the instructions on the previous ROOT post link download Zip file?

No, you don't need an OTG cable.

A plain micro usb will do.

I agree here, the K-R42 uses is a generic cable as it's just a generic china brand android tv box,so therefore the socket for the usb cable would almost certainly be generic to.So it should only require a basic micro usb cable to connect.
