I thought that V1 worked fine on 701c as well?
You are right I was using the wrong one.

I have to say I am not overly impressed with the onda ics rom. It has slow downs and stutters that do not fill me with confidence. I am hoping that the eventual 701c ics release will be more polished. Otherwise I think I will stick with gingerbread.

Yeah, I think it's because of ICS and 512MB RAM.. I think if it had 1GB it would run a little better...

Not sure I could go back to Gingerbread from ICSS though... It's nice having the tablet actually seen as a tablet instead of a phone...

It doesn't help that the onda apps are in chinese. I do not know which ones are safe to delete and which ones are required.

                  Only thing I noticed

There are some of them that dont want to totally go away. I imagine I could get them with Titanum Backup, but I havent spent the time to load it up to check. I have not had any problem from deleting the ones I did delete though.

                    Hello!

Perhaps someone who HAS worked out the issues with the Onda ROM would be willing to provide a Anglicized copy of their work for those who need it?

What apps are you having issues with? I was able to remove all but one (Onda Store) just via normal un-install. For that one, you need to install ES File Explorer, go into setup and set it up to run as root and to remount filesystem as read/write. Then just delete the Onda Store app (or any of the "system" apps that you don't want) from /system/app folder. It will be un-installed automatically behind the scenes.

After removing all of the crap that was in chinese (include MSN app, for example), I now only have 16 apps total (including ES File Explorer). Plus you'll have full write access to / now as well...

Hope that helps... If I knew how to create an .img of where it's at now, I would, but I have no idea how to do that - sorry...

Trying to get everything together to start working on a custom ROM, but ya gotta give me a bit of time. 3 weeks ago learning Android sounded like a good idea, so I am just getting up to speed here.

                          Hello!

Personally, I'm in no hurry for it. I am willing to wager we'll have us a stock 701i out of the user community here before the manufacturer issues one, just like the one created for the 701c.

My 701i seems to have WiFi issues, and the browser is a royal pain to try to cut-and-paste any text into. I'm liable go be returning mine soon. I find myself on the 701c most of the time anyway.

Actually, someone here just created a stock 601i image! Check it out - there is a whole thread about it....

Has anyone gotten the Onda firmwares to properly spell check English? It doesn't seem to know of english words....

                                Hello!

Sounds like it's going to take either teaching the current file the English words or swapping the dictionary file with one from an English-language version of the stock ROM.

Right now, the only advantage I see with using the Onda ROM is the ability to be able to go into recovery mode using the tablet buttons. UIAM, no combination of keypresses I've tried seems to do this with the stock ROM.
