How does XBMC run on this tablet? Do you get hardware decoding for videos?

      Hi guys,

I was in a shop and had a look at the tablet. Do you think the finishing is not very good? Especially the sd card slot...

For that price, I couldn't give a flying $#& about the finishing. It isnt perfect, but it holds together well and feels more solid than the junk Pipo often sells.

          UPDATED REVIEW

I have had this tablet for a while now and have some points to add to the review.

First point: I've managed to keep it for the longest out of all the Chinese tablets i've tried and for good reason. This thing is GREAT!

Some things i've noticed is that the back hard plastic/glass SUCKS and I somehow broke it without knowing causing a triangle to break off a few centimeters wide and a crack along the back.
I put it in a case and all is merry. I would still choose it over most other tabs.

NOW THE FUN PART. I found the reason this tablet is so fast. It uses eMMC rather than dumb NAND chips. So the reason it flies through browsing and experiences no slowdowns is the flash storage. Something I have noticed a trend in is good flash storage in recent chinese tablets.
          For example:
JXD S7800B has a good 1280x800 display and RK3188, but its laggy and slows down all the time because of the poor memory.
Meanwhile, FNF iFive mini3 and FNF iFive X3 both have RK3188, but they have eMMC and has very good speed and random R/W speed.

The next tablet I will try is the Onda V975m. Why? Because I loved the screen of my Cube U9GT5, but the performance was so bad. Both from the not-good-enough-for-retina hardware, and the slow NAND storage.
This new Onda has an AMLogic M802 SoC with a decent Quad-Core 1.9GHz Cortex-A9. But what really shines is the GPU. It has 6 Mali450 Cores at 600MHz. And 2 Mali Vertex Processors.
This will get 31K in Antutu and should handle the 2048x1536 on the LG display very nicely.
This tablet uses NAND I believe but users report high speeds.

good review nztdm thanks..(the reason I bought it)
I've had mine for a while now too. I also still luv it..and would recomend it to anyone..my back cracked too(also don't know how) but I don't care still all works good I just put a spare screen protector on it to hold it together.
The intel chip is just a rock solid performer, silky smooth with no lag at all..

Hmm. what an annoying design flaw. The official case for it is actually pretty ok. That's what I use.

Yea the intel is great, but two things don't work on X86 version of Android. Flash Player. And Drastic DS emulator... :-(

The main reason for the speed compared to most cheap china tabs is because of the quality eMMC NAND chips, rather than software-managed NAND chips. A huge thing to look for in china tabs. You can see some examples that I have confirmed to have eMMC chips in my above post. FNF seems to be becoming my favorite china tab maker and I hope they get a AMLogic M802 or RK3288 soon.

Hi there, can you show me how its back glass been broken? Would that cause by the heat produced while your playing games or something?

I want to buy one this weekend, and it would be either i9 or teclast p10 if it is available. If both ar not ok for me, I would buy LG G Pad.

                  Re: Ramos i9 - Hands-On review

It has a small 1cm triangle of the back that broke off to the center-right. A semi diagonal crack formed from the top to the bottom in landscape. You can flex the back along the crack and hear it grind. I just put on a case and all is well. It doesn't seem to be at any risk of damage via the crack.

It may have been caused by shock as I dropped it a small distance onto carpet but the break was no immediate.

It was definitely not caused by heat as the break and crack are nowhere near the SoC heat source.

The Teclast P90 is similar to the Ramos i9. I haven't tried it myself and I don't know about their quality.

I will have an Onda V975M in a week to test out. It has a GPU more powerful than the iPad 4 and is the most powerful Chinese tablet today.
If it has issues or isn't as fast as the hardware suggests due to has software optimization, I will tell you as I will be reviewing it here.

I highly recommend the Ramos i9 over any other Chinese tablet for now. Get a case for it if you get it.

I also recommend you wait a week and a bit for me to review the Onda V975M. If it has no issues, it is FAR more powerful than the Ramos, has a better display (LG), and is a little cheaper.

I recommend you wait a week.

I saw a V975M review, and it said the flash content (something like that...) makes the device run slow. I don't know what it means.

The third from the bottom is V975M score.
The connection cable is not standard one. FPS is not good... blah blah blah...

@nztdm: Any news on the onda V975M? Which one, Ramos or Onda, will make the race?

going by the slatedroid forums http://www.slatedroid.com/forum/1185-onda-v975m/ it looks as though it's having a few firmware issues at the moment. I'd wait a while till onda sorts them out..
i've got the i9 and it's rock solid kills rockchip rk3188 tabs.

But I find it is worth it over ANYTHING from Pipo/Cube as it is fast, and has no software bugs, no freezes or slowdowns which are common among chinese tabs.

                              Hi nztdm!

Will you be able to write a review of the Onda V975M. Shall I wait for your review or go straight forward and buy the I9?
