PMID701c vs PMID701i display
Have any of you besides me gotten both models? I have both models here and I notice the screen is much brighter on the 701c, with both units brightness turned all the way up and I load the same app or a white webpage side by side on the units the 701c is very bright. Could this be that ICS is just darker, or would it be the screen? I also seen another post about this in amazons reviews, someone else noticing the same thing.

Do you think it could be the actual screen, or could ICS be making it darker? I guess I will know soon once we get a stock rom of ICS, I will flash my C model with it and see how the brightness is then, then determine which one I will be returning depending on that. That is if we get a stock rom before my 30 day return period runs out.

Is that a possible reason for the longer battery life on the 701i?
Just a thought...I've heard a few people comment that the battery life is better on the 701i compared to the 701c. Is the darker display a possible reason for this?
Would they "dial down" the display's max achievable brightness via ICS to conserve battery life?

Not sure if the heat I'm feeling on the backside is from battery dissipation or the heat coming off the circuitry or perhaps both? No worries though, I've run them both pretty hard and no fires of explosions etc... LOL

When I Initially loaded the newest Netflix app it ran like crap. Froze ....audio was way out of sync when it would play etc. I downloaded and installed an older version of Netflix...version 1.5.2.
That seems to play very well. There are moments when the audio seems a little out of sync but it doesn't freeze and is at least tolerable.
If you haven't found it there is a whole thread I have about trying to get Netflix working right on the 701c...I'm guess it would be helpful on the 701i as well. It's right here:
You could try installing the older version of Netflix (link is the thread). You might also try dialing down your Netflix video setting. If you go into settings on Netflix you can make the quality setting lower and it might helps. It seems my 701C is much more sensitive to wifi connection settings than any other device in my house when it comes to netflix.
Worth a try!
I'm a little bummed to see you have issues with Netflix. I've heard others say Netflix works well on the I. I was hoping the ICS would be an improvement over Gingerbread when it came to Netflix

Try an older version of Net Flix that was working for other ppl, here's a link to 1.5.2:
((1.5.2, the one ppl found best, also I'd remove the 1st Net Flix app then install the new one, don't do a replace))

Here's a page with a few versions to choose from:

Weird.

Another thing is that ICS maybe using a newer/more recent Linux kernel which has better power management features on the same hardware.
Personally I don't like the newer GUI's/interfaces like Gnome 3, ICS and Windows 8. Designed/Focused too much on/for the TeleTubbie set if you ask me.Last edited by c,lei; 23 April 2012, 02:50.

Does the display on either the 701C or 701I seem a bit cloudy
I just bought the 701I to replace my old Huawei S7. I'm happy with most of the performance but the display seems cloudy. The white background on the WEB or e-mail seems to have a blue/gray cast compared to my Huawei and my ASUS Slider. Is this a factor of the display resolution or does mine have a video issue? I realize that the resolution on the Slider is much better but the Huawei is 1 1/2 years old and is the same as the Polaroid. The white background on it is much brighter. The other issue I have is the display blurs in areas when scrolling on WEB pages and clarifies at different rates within a page as I scroll. Do I have a video issue with mine or is this common on these devices. If mine is messed up I want to return it within the 30 day window, if this is normal I will keep it, the improvements over the old Huawei are worth the irritations with the display and scrolling. I realize there is only so much to expect of an ICS device for $99.99 but if mine isn't up to speed with what others are seeing I want to get another one before I load too many more things. I got the Market working and have Flash Player and e-mail and gmail loaded but there are others that I will load once I'm sure that I will keep this one.
One other question, has anyone found out how to get screen captures? I read that ICS has this feature but I tried holding the Power and Volume Down as was suggested in that article and nothing happens. My ASUS has this with 3.2 by long pressing the Recent Apps button, but I think that is an ASUS add on.

Some people have reported making multiple exchanges before getting one that worked right. Some have described wifi connectivity issues or tablets that refuse to play Netflix smoothly. They return their tablet for another tablet of the same model number and things work fine with that new tablet.
There has also been discussion of some of the 701i's not having the TV output jack.
I have the 701C so I can't really help with your question about the 701i. I do know some have complained that the 701i display isn't as bright as the 701i. Hopefully someone here will be able to help compare your display with theirs.
