ROM updated to 1.5a

1.5a updates:
I put back the stock rom SystemUI.apk (Status Bar) with the blue icons.
The one I used in 1.5 would crash on some operations.
For instance connecting to a PC and turning on USB would crash the status bar.

I included the vsync patched kernels to fix the frame micro skipping issue.
The 720P vsync patched kernel is now the default set in my flash tool.

NOTE: You do NOT have to erase and flash the entire ROM to get these fixes.
If you already have 1.5 installed just run the 1.5a flash tool and uncheck everything except kernel.img and system.img
Flash this and you will keep all your data.

The MK908ii seems to be the little child. Not a lot of ROM Devs working on this.
Well we all know a new ROM came out so I decided to make a Finless ROM from this new MK908ii ROM.
This is not like my last ROM which used a totally different ROM and I ported it. This update by Tronsmart seemed pretty good so I used it this time. You all can decide if you like it better.

Features and release notes for my 1.5a ROM:

0) Sorry I hated the new launcher provided with this ROM. It sucks in my opinion!
So I put back the AOSP Android launcher.

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play and required Google APPs to the latest version.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I re-enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu.
Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) I also re-enabled accessibility options in settings.

7) Gameloft fix. Rockchip sources now have this fix in!
They We at Freaktab learned this fix from Chistian Tory. Then FreakTab dev's passed it on to Minix, then this got to Rockchip!
Amazing! All RockChip ROMs have had this GameLoft issue for 3 years. Now because of us Android lovers, RockChip finally fixed this!
I am proud as I am sure all FreakTab Dev's are, to have helped Android progress even from Chip makers like RockChip!
Eventually they do listen to us users
With that said.... ROCKCHIP! REALEASE SOURCES!
If your going to use the communities developers to help you, THEN HELP US! Do the right thing!

8) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device nopt a MK908 or RKSDK! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a 908ii.
WARNING if you do this, you need to be using the 1080 kernel or your screen will be oversized!

9) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

10) 1080P Kernel if you want it! Tronsmart released a 1080 kernel but faked it back to 720.
I have unpacked it from boot and made it a choice in this ROM package.

11) I also supply Vsync patched kernels to fix the micro frame skipping.
The kernel720_vsync.img is the default selection in the flash tool.

FYI, this stock kernel has the micro frame skipping issue. I just noticed it (it's hard to notice). I do not understand why this company makes some products with the skipping fixed and others with it not fixed. It's like they do not talk to each other.

I will see if I can make a patched kernel tonight for you all.

hi bob, how's the performance of 1080p kernel with 1080p videos? do you recomend to use that or 720p is enough? i have a 1080p LG 42inch LED tv. still waiting for my device, hopefully will be delivered today.

would it make a difference in movies that are in 1080 if you use a 720p kernel and boot?

Hey folks... As promised.... I fixed the kernel and the micro frame skipping issue by patching the kernels with Sam's frame skipping fix and Mr. Anderson's patcher program.

I updated the first post and added the download links.

Just unzip these and copy these into the FinlessROM folder and flash these kernels to fix frame skipping.

@Bob, hello first of all, thank you for the fast update for the kernel. when i installed your new rom. i seem to have a problem when i shut down the device and start it again. every thing is mess up, acore force close, and my nova launcher setup was deleted and a lot of time i get boot loops, it will load the android then reboots itself. any idea about this? do you think i got a defective device?

by the way when i erase nand, will the device always restarts?

Ok so I've been testing this device/ROM all day now.

So far I have not had many problems to speak of. Playback has been smooth (although I haven't tried streaming much from my NAS yet). I have read that XBMC struggles, can anyone suggest a decent alternative? I need my NAS media organised which is why I've always used XBMC on my PC, is there something that offers better playback with the same level of organisation?

Also, I've noticed the sound isn't very good. Is this just a limit of the device or are there settings I can optimise?

Video is much smoother, which is great. However the buffering issue for the aforementioned app remains. I hope this will be solved in future.
