Has anyone tried the "official" ROM from the ST website yet? Just curious as to the results...

I have. Somehow I was messing around and lost root. Nothing I would do go it back. I reflashed the tablet with the 'official' ROM from the ST website. Now I'm back in business.

I would like to download the orriginal rom. I went to the southern telecom site (polaroid tablet) and all I can see is manual. Can you please post me the URL where I can download the rom?

            Hello!

Here ya go... This page has the firmware flashes for all the different 701 series tablets:

There are several different incarnations of the 701i, so be sure to look at the label on the back of your tablet. That way, you'll get the right file for your hardware.

              st rom

Thanx everyone for the quick response on the st URL. Peace

I finally fully downloaded after 5 interrupted tries. The pdf states its version 4.0 but the tablet says 4.03. I wonder if it's the same??

So now you can go try new roms without the worry of not being able to return to factory defaults.

                Tutorial:
                1. Download Live Suite.
                2. Turn off your Polaroid Tablet
                3. Select the PMID701i.img from inside Live Suite.
                4. Hold the second button from the bottom and plug your tablet in. (Recovery Mode)
                5. Select Format Upgrade.

                Live Suite

You didn't mention which version of Windows or LiveSuite you were running. Older versions of LiveSuit required you to force the correct driver using SuperOneClick depending on your OS. Your best bet is to make sure you are using LiveSuite v1.07 or v1.09 to get the correct driver for you OS without needing SuperOneClick.

I used the same version you did because LiveSuite v1.07 wasn't available yet. So I had to force the correct driver install with SuperOneClick ve2.3.3 - http://shortfuse.org/

Or you can get the LiveSuite v1.0 from Southern Telecom/Polaroid. Just download the correct firmware for your tablet model (LiveSuite is included in the ZIP)

Hey, FM45, that file worked perfectly for me. Now I have Android Market (Play) and I am simply amazed by the crap that this $89 tablet can run. MineCraft? AIDE with compilers? Also a big fan of Tower Defense. All free, on Play. I will probably try flashing/romming my tablet eventually but for now it just works too well, I've spent $100 on three other tablets that might get rommed first because I don't want to break this one, clearly the cream of the crop.
