    MK908II screen issue on 720p

    Hi all,

I recently received my MK908II and from the moment I connected it to my TV I have this screen issue on my Philips TV (32PFL5606) at 720p. Using other HDMI ports won't fix the problem. I tried stock firmware and the Finless 1.5a.

There is constant, what looks like, noise in the screen (not much but noticable) and occasional black horizontal lines through the entire screen (about 0.1 inch wide). From time to time the screen goes black for a second and then comes back with the TV saying I'm watching HDMI port X (like if I just turned on the TV).

Strange thing is that when I switch to 1080p the issue disappears. Also, on my Samsung TV in my living room there's no issue at all with the device no matter what setting I choose.

Because I rather have smoother video playback then the extra pixels I want to use the 720p setting. Does anyone have an idea about what's wrong and if I can fix this? At this moment I don't know whether I should return it and get another model like the CX-919 or try another MK908II.

Ive been a Satellite TV engineer for years and are sorry to inform you its more than likely a tv issue. Philips make some of the most reliable TV's but unfortunately very bad for features. They tend to be very under specced TV's usually only having very basic functionality. I havnt tried mine on my partners philips yet but im guesing ill have issues galore with it but not expecting any on the sony or samsungs we have. Will let you know in the next few days how i go on

It would be awesome if you are able to check it out on another Philips TV. But I understand that chances are that when I return the MK908II to get a CX-919 it will introduce other and perhaps bigger issues with my TV.

I think I will stick with the MK908II and use it on 1080p, unless there's a fix or cheap workaround for the 720p setting.

You could also try a different hdmi dongle, i have read several times that the bundled ones are bad quality. If you are not sure, try your device on a different tv before buying a dongle.

I've read that some people had to buy hdmi adapters for their stick to be able to even get a signal on a Philips TV, so I guess I'm not in a very bad position atm. It works pretty good on the 1080p setting with Finless 1.5a.

For me, with my Samsung, I have changed the hdmi cable furnish with(on my 2 mk908II), and this solved the problem.

I'm sorry, I don't think I quite get what you mean with 'changing the furnish' of the cable. Can you explain this?

Yes, I mean the hdmi cable supplied with the device.

Ah ok, I bought another cable. I needed a longer one anyway because I don't want it to be hanging next to my tv (it's wall mounted).

I will let you know if it fixed anything

had some noise with a previous MK device, changing the HDMI cable was the solution

I received the new cable but it didn't solve the issue. With the new cable my TV didn't even get signal from the device. It looked like HDMI handshaking failures (Philips TV issue I've read about before on Android Stick forums).

So I'm giving up on this, I will keep using the device with the original HDMI cable on 1080p.

                          Cheers all!
