T428 (AP6330 Wireless chipset) Kernels for KitKat 4.4.2 beta
So I've messedd about and found that with a decent power supply I can get 1.7 GHz to run reliably but 1.8 GHz always freezes on 21% in antutu tests
I've tried upping the DDR frequency to 800 but performance drops (due to wait states I assume) after 720 MHz so I'm sticking with 667 for no other reason than it's 'standard'.
The really odd thing is I'm not able to get any HDMI setting other than 720/60 no matter what I do. Everyone else getting this?

Take a look at the 3.0.36+ sources for 4.2.2. Might be just some things missing in the kitkat sources. Also ping Leolas as he may know too. phjanderson would for sure know but he has been AWOL for a long time. Hope he is OK.
C'mon guys! 30 downloads of the 667 MHz DDR kernel and 9 of the 1800/667 MHz version and zero feedback?
I can't do this on my own! What results are you getting and what quirks do you see? Is anyone getting 1080p displayed?
I'm definitely a 'give feedback' kind of guy, good or bad, but I'm not a frequent study here, so I'm unsure about the flashing process as far as what utility to use and what firmware to package this kernel in.
I tried it. The screen kept flashing at random intervalls. And I couldn't adjust the screen zoom. Both problems could be rom related. And my t428 is a bit sensitive to oc. Wifi was working fine.
About to try this kernel with Bob's new KitKat beta for the MK908
using the Kernel-667.img
4GB partition.
So far nothing has exploded.
"INFO Run OK"
Win7 installs drivers.
Recognized as GT-I9300
access to internal NAND FLASH and SD-card
now onto the TV
Boots up OK
default Wallpaper is hideous
Now goes straight into Google Acct setup/signin (they don't fool around anymore huh?)
Used auto WiFi setup and it automatically WPS connected me to the 2.4GHz (Yuck!) Now I gotta type the whole password.
Now connected to 5GHz
1st stop "Display" and "HDMI" Uh Oh. Screen Zoom does nothing. Screen is too big, not fitting on TV.
So I'll have to use some manual method to correct the screen size. I have of course forgotten what I did on the last ROM flash
In all honesty, I use my T428 for just about NOTHING but Netflix these days.
Netflix installed UH OH! 5 impressive seconds of Netflix and video freezes.
Now shows "Buffering"
Now stuck. Not sure if WiFi is working well.
Restarted Netflix. Again about 5 seconds of video then FREEZE & now "Unfortunately Netflix has stopped working"
darrellr
are you compiling kernel from github or just modifying compiled kernel?
i can't find a github with working 4.4.2 kernel
if you know where to get it please?
i need to make changes to GPIOs...

Neither, I downloaded the source and I'm compiling it locally.

I don't even know how to use Init.d but I created file named "HDMI Scaling Fix" with no extension and set all the permissions to R/W/Execute
Within the file I have: #!/system/bin/sh echo 90 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/scale but here's the problem; This firmware does not have a file/setting? named "scale" in /sys/class/graphics/fb0/
Is "echo 90 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/scale" supposed to create that?
There is such a file in /sys/class/display but xscale and yscale are already set to 80 and those values change with the Settings Slider which has no effect on the actual screen scale.
So here I am again wasting oodles of time on the continuously repeated Screen Scaling Issue.
Even more mystifying is that using a couple different File Explorers I was able to keep drilling down /Sys/class/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/device/graphics/fb0/
dozens upon dozens of times. Don't have a clue what's going on with that.
