    End of Day

Since I can't bring myself to end the day on a bad note. I'm gonna try a different ROM.

My hands are tied really, if I can't adjust the HDMI Zoom / Scale. 100% is always too big and beyond the adjustment range of my TV. Firmware should probably always use 90 or 95% as the default out-the-door setting. My TV can adjust up plenty, but can never adjust down enough. Same experience with every 2nd ROM I try.

Don't know what KitKat has to offer, but I look forward to trying again later.

Just flashed Bob's 1.8 ROM for the Minix X7. Totally dreamy so far. Screen scaling was perfect with no adjustment necessary. Automatically connected via 5GHz using WiFi-Protected-Setup. Netflix working like a charm.

Why haven't you offered a T428 version of that over here Bob? It seems that just a different Boot Animation and smaller Parameter files and it's good to go. I used the "Parameter" file. Smallest I could find. I guess it's 4GB.

Very impressed with Bob's Minix Neo X7 1.8 Rom. I used the 720p kernel and 720noair boot.img. Got Antutu Score of 18137. Latest version of Antutu. No over-clocking. It looked like some of the objects weren't getting fully rendered in the 3D test though.

Real shame the T428 couldn't have had firmware like this when it first came out! Cudda made some money then.

@darrellr @fwupow what kit kat rom are you testing with? I tried one but almost bricked. Anything special needed when flashing? I noticed the loader versions are higher in the x7 and finless 2.0 kk roms which may have been my issue.

Kitkat must have V2 loader (2.08) and Jelly BeAn needs v1.

Ah! I messed with that and I think that's what happened. Wouldn't boot....will try again sometime this week. So should I use the x7 rom for testing?

Finless' ROM is for the MK908II isn't it? I must admit to being baffled by all the variants.

The kernels I made here are for sticks with an AP6330 radio

                      T428 kernel 4.4.2 1080p

                      T428 kernel 4.4.2 1080p

xbmc work for 1080p videos / now the last version of xbmc support also the new kitkat fullscreen mode.

                      hdmi zoom functionality works.

                        Welcome back Strauzo.

I built a 1080p kernel too. It's oc slightly (1.7 GHz and 667 MHz RAM). I turned off default HDMI to force EDID check too. Antutu score of 20,500 with Kasty's ROM

Could you add .Config inclusion in your kernel builds so that we can compare configuration? It would be good to compare.

i confirm that the 1080p kernel need a little overclock to work well.

for the kernel 720p overclock is not necessary in all situation.

this kernel is better that the previous one of 4.2.2 firmware.

xbmc work better with the new kernel and kitkat.

this is all you need to know.

I know all that already I just wanted to see if we had built our kernels the same.

If you are too shy to share you can always download my kernel build, extract it's config, compare and let me know if you spot anything important that differs. You may like my config better

i want remember to you that you compiled the 4.4.2 kernel thanks to me as other can read in this post: (Something very simple, nothing special)

but in your thread i not see "thanks to strauzo"

i share only what is necessary for normal end users because i'm not a developer of this forum, i'm a simple user and i share what i want and when i want.

do not get mad for this post, it is only a fair response because you have not continued to write in the thread where we started.

You are a strange boy Strauzo. I'm very puzzled at this response. I am a very friendly jolly person and if we were talking face to face I'd be smiling and maybe buying you a beer. Just like I said last post "Welcome back", I'm pleased to see you in the forum.

To reply to your other points:

                                1. Your help didn't get my kernel built, my solution was to apply a new default config and then amend from there. Your advice was different, you suggested "First the version that you are build is 3.0.36 and must be 3.0.36+, After you must use rkcrc -k ./Image ./yourkernel.img ".

However, in the post directly after your suggestion i wrote "Thank you for that. I'll try as soon as I get to my hotel this evening. Dee". So I DID say thank you even though it didn't fix my problem! :-D

                                2. You did however help me with my earlier 'hack' of renaming firmware files when I was trying to be lazy and avoid creating my own build environment. I did say thank you for that too and I'll happily say thank you again now. Thank you :-D

                                3. If you look at the thread where we were discussing the kernels you will see the last post was from .... me! So it was you that posted somewhere else not me. But it doesn't matter where we post as long as we are learning and building.

However, having said all this I understand you are a little angry for a reason I don't understand. I'm happy to discuss code, compiling and how to get 'real' android onto an RK3188 platform if you wish. I haven't coded for a very long time but I'm enjoying getting back to it, even in this little way.

                                So ... all good?
