Update: Just for grins, I put my ext sd card back into my old Pandigital Planet and did move apps to the card and go thru a reboot w/o any issue. Problem is with S8 and mod somewhere. Based on what I've seen on net with similar problem it looks like a timing issue where OS looks for apps before sd card is mounted but I'm not sure. Hard to believe I'm the only one seeing this problem.

Guess I was a bit premature getting excited about finally having enough storage for apps after the mod swapped the mount points for the internal and external sd cards. It seems that if I move an installed app to the sd card now [which is now my class 10 32GB ext sdcard], the app just vanishes as though it was never installed following a power cycle. Which basically defeats the purpose. I doubt the problem is the SD card as it's the same one I used on my Pandigital Planet [Android 2.3.4] and never experienced the problem. Anyone else seen this and if so, how did you solve the problem?

yeah i had that problem briefly with the apps disappearing but i fixed it. and whoever said they think its a timing problem with the OS and the sd card mounting is right. thats gotta be at least partly the problem. for me the problem occured after i switched the sd card and ext sd but i did it manually, not using the rom that has it switched. what seemed to be the case was any app that i had installed to my sd card BEFORE i did the switch would go poof when i tried to run them after the switch. how did i fix it? i said screw it its still early in the game ill just start all over and reflash the modded googleplay rom and then immediately do the sd card ext sd card swap manually as soon as i got su app working and everything. i have had no problems since and that was a long time ago, like feb or early march. i always make sure to use android tuner to shoot anything i install over to the sd card. my internal storage only has 3 user apps: smart launcher, android tuner, and luck patcher and is usually just under 700mb free which is plenty to work with for just an ininital installing of an app since my ext sd is 32 gb.
speaking of android tuner... WTF! this thing can do so much it makes my head spin. anyone know of the best settings to use with it. im scared to mess with certain things because i have bricked a galaxy s captivate phone with an app similar to this.

Still having Problems
First of all, I want to thank you all for your work. I am anxious to get this tablet into a useable state.
Secondly, I apologize right up front for my ignorance.
I have an A/S8 and have followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread as carefully as I can. Using PhoenixSuite I have successfully flashed the guessyet ROM and the machine works.
After flashing, I ran the prop-switch BATCH file, however, I still have two problems (as stated elsewhere in this thread):
1) In the horizontal position the notifications are not accessible by swiping.
2) If I move a newly installed app to the "sdcard", it will go missing upon restart.
I have tried reflashing and re-batching several times. I wiped the external card clean and retried flashing and batching. All to no avail. I have tried running the commands from the batch directly using ADB and while I still get no errors, there is no change in the behavior of the system.
Can anyone suggest a way to make it work?
Thanks in advance!

@kraigw
I also experience those problems of crashing then the tablet resets and automatically restore itself to factory defaults. What I did was I disabled most of the default google
Apps that I don't need, the only remaining was youtube, g+, playstore, books, and play services--the only apps I use and some games. I also disabled gallery which often crashes as google auto uploads my pictures even though sync is already disabled (I read this was a common issue to android). All google sync is also disabled. Now I didn't have the crashing issues. Most of google background services shouldn't run by now. You can disable the apps on settings, apps, then all. I hope this helps.
@guessyet
Thank you for all your effort, I love you for it. I have a minor issue with your rom, though, the one with swapped sd cards, I'm playing this game called Rollercoaster Tycoon and the display resolution don't work properly (I can't tap some of the buttons because it's off-screen). But when I used your other roms it displays the game just fine. How can I make the game display properly with sd card swap rom?
Edit: Also I can't seem to fix the sd-card-swap-rom with your 'prop'. I'm using Windows 8.1. The first run of the doubleclickme.bat says failed but restarts the tablet anyway, second run after that it writes something (200-400kb file) then restarts the tablet but still nothing happens. If it's a driver issue how can I fix it? I already downloaded and installed the drivers that you posted but I still can't seem to make it work. Btw, I'm using PhoenixSuit v1.0.8.Last edited by rebirth01; 28 October 2014, 19:29.
