      any suggestion plz

dear d33: same question, I'm sorry but have no experience with the tv dongles. Rooted and flashed different roms and mods on android smartphones but this is my first tvkey.

I just would like to understand if installing a mod rom (working with mk809III with ap6210) and mantaining the kernel you dumped, will keep working wifi and bt.

I thank you in advance if you will be so kind to reply this silly question

Sorry for lack of response, I've been so busy in my person life.

1080P 50hz works; just go to Settings --> Display and change it. It will be an upscaled 1080P, because it is not a 1080P kernel.

d33: Thanks! Will the kernel work with Neomode? Well, we have to test it. However, we will not get native 1080P.

Perhaps in the future with the KitKat Android version? Somebody talked about KitKat had drivers for MTK by default?

We'll see. The dongle works perfectly though; And the WiFi chip is much stronger than AP6210 - guess it's more expensive than AP6210, that is why we don't see so many of these with MTK.

        MKMutual.

Wifi and bt all is well but
I don't understand how MKMutual has tested 1080p. Not available for my device...

Do anyone think it will be possible to flash a custom rom keeping the kernel and so the working bt and wifi?

        THANK YOU EVERYBODY
Keep in contact for any other upgrade

You didn't answer my question: How did you find that firmware?

I've installed orange backup by downloading the apk here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2040507

you can make a full backup so then you can change rom whenever you want. It creates differents files (system, data, kernel etc.) so you can restore what you need.
              Hope it will be useful.

                backup

                Thanks mains75
It seems to be a powerfool tool but it's still needed a rooted device... I mean that I want to backup a stock firmware... And I'm not sure to be able to rooot the stock firmware of our tvkey without loosing the wifi and bt... If you have a solution to root a stock firmware without loosing any function please tell me and as soon as I will receive the new dongle I will post here the stock rom for users and developers.
                Thank you all!

Sorry for not having replied, my girlfriend and I broke up so there has been a lot of turmoil in my life recently, not had any surplus to do anything other than work, sleep and eat. Anyway; How I found the firmware was by investigating what kind of hardware the stick had; I had a thought, like you that this isn't a "MK 809III" device - you could simply call it a "RK 3188T"-device.

So I started looking around reading specs about other RK3188T-devices and suddenly another device matched in EVERY aspect (chip-wise). Except our device doesn't have a build-in camera. The twin-brother is..... The CS968.

Our device is a scraped version of the CS968 - there are three different versions of the CS968 (yes, really) - obviously, we have the MKT-version (also called "Version 3.0")

So when you look for firmwares for this particluar device, don't look in this forum. Go to this forum instead:

Just note that the CS968 owners have issues as well and not all firmwares will work for every CS968-device (thus not all CS968 firmwares will work for our "MKT MK809III"-device. Again, it depends on the version.)

                  Confusing? Yes, very!

I'm glad you had that nice idea. I tought you got infos from your supplier.
Anyway now I'm almost happy with this device exept for hd video playback that is not so fluid....maybe because of rk3188t that is not powerful as 3188...

                      MK809III problemas wi-fi

Friends this is my first post in this forum, do not speak English so I use google translator. My problem with MK809III is that when I place the mini SD card wi-fi stops working but BT still functioning normally. I think my mini pc is equal to the MKMutual it has the same internal label with the same signature and JWM saying the CQ field. I can not figure out if it is defective hard or soft.

                        !!!SOLVED!!!!

Thanks to everyone who participated in solving this annoying issue. The firmware is NOT native 1080P, but everything works (Wifi/Bluetooth) and is rooted.

Perhaps Neomode can extract the kernel and make a custom firmware for us with MKT-Wifi. For now, just enjoy your working device.

                        Best regards,
                        MKMutual.

Hi, I have the same MK809III, this firmware works, but it does not solve the frame skipping problem when playing video. I have tried these kernels:

With them the video plays well, but of course there is no wifi...

So I still need a kernel with support of mediatek wifi and the frame skipping fix... any idea?

Hello everybody, I'm new here, so first of all I'd like to thank MKMutual, d33 and the others who share their knowledge.

I have recently purchased a MK809III, the wifi chip matches with the one discussed in this thread, so I want to try the ROM linked by MKMutual in post #41. The point is, I have really little experience in flashing android devices, I found some tools and instructions from neomode and Finless here in the forum but I still need some directions to put the pieces together:

                              - the ROM linked by MKMutual is a single .img file
                              - the flashing tools show different entries (boot.img, kernel.img, parameter.img, etc.)

so which of them should I substitute with the .img file from MKMutual?
I got ROM Flash Tool v1.37 by Finless from his howto, but that's about making a complete dump of the ROM and flashing it back. I still don't understand how to flash the single .img file from MKMutual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: a little more searching has led me to make the acquaintance of Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7, which flashed the rom to my mk809. Wifi and bluetooth are working fine.
Video playback is better than before (stock rom), although with bigger files (>3Gb .mkv's and .mp4's) I notice a slightly annoying frame skipping. Is this common? Can it be improved?
Anyway, now that I have a working device I'll experiment a little and report back here.

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone in this thread, especially MKMutual! Exactly that firmware was needed for me.

                                Thanks again!
