    I am on windows 7 I have heard of adb before now I know it's a command line program .. So yes that sounds ok I will have to download it of course

      For adb, I think it is the same on windows than on linux, you have to download the android sdk.

      You can get it here : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

          Have taken this back...poor battery life , ,sound sucks even though front speaker so tinny and low...had a few reboots so got refund sticking with my g2 sorry all about no rom

              Was more solid. Felt heavier..but didn't realise battery it said up to 4 hours..so wasn't worth it just for ics ..

                  Yeah was a bit surprised how quick the % battery dropped...but speaker was so tinny ...and low on full volume...really bad for new model...as you say going backward instead of forward...

                    They improve the software but forget about the hardware... Well.. Lets hope that someone else just dump the rom.

                      Battery

                      I believe the hardware in the 10b G3 is nearly identical to the 10b G2 so the battery life would be an issue with ICS software. There may be many more background processes running. Only way to know is to get to user root somehow and run 'top' or something similar 'ps -a'.
                      Maybe I should be looking at rooting ICS in general rather than arnova G3 specifically

                          But John what do you think of the sound on it? Was very poor on the one I had low and tinny from a front speaker...but battery life to suffer by half because of ics? Seems drastic to me more like inferior battery put in perhaps ...still don't think I'd buy another even if bob put another rom on it..still think this G2 rocks and about to test bobs new rom and cmd

                            I am still looking for a way to get root. When I tried to use 'z4root' several apps refused to work even after uninstalling it. My only recourse was to use the factory restore app. It's comforting to now know that the restore works. It does reinstall everything and the tablet works again as originally purchased. This tells me there is probably a hidden partition on the device that has a image of everything. Reading this partition would give a rommer everything he needs to know. New word "rommer" A person who roms?

                            As an aside gadgetuk, sound also is a function of software. I don't know if the speaker was changed or not, but sound driver can make a tremendous difference in how things play back. So can a cheap speaker make the sound terrible. I will have to listen to something next time Linda sets the unit close to me. LOL

                              The 10b G3 w/ ICS is advertised as open source under the GPL license.
                              I have requested a copy of the source code from the manufacturer.
                              Would the source include the ROM code?

                                Good luck with that! Many of us have been hammering on Arnova asking for kernel source and not ONE SINGLE REPLY!

                                Now it will not include code they did specifically but having the kernel source is a BIG help to us.
