Did you have anything specific I should test while I have it installed? Aside from the rotation issue, it seems to be working as well as the 10.1 version.

Amlogic has a 3.10 kernel with new mali kernel driver for the 8726MX that works with KitKat but I'm sure nextbook will never update, rather sell you a new tablet. From what I've read KitKat needs at least the 3.10 kernel for the performance boost to work. The only thing I really like about KitKat is the Google Now Launcher but it works on the stock rom if you install the Google libraries from a kitkat rom. All I did was make a few changes in the build.prop to get the screen and camera rotation corrected plus modified the boot.img to wipe system, data, and cache. The rest is CT's cm-11.0 build.

That reminds me... the camera isn't perfect... one of them is upside down... don't remember if it was the front or back camera...

Okay I've done all the updates to the cm-11.0 builds as suggested and I now get as far it booting to the cyanogenmod screen with the rotating arrow and then it freezes.

Any more suggestions on which other files need modding?

            Thanks again!

Someone reported that also but it's correct on my tablet. Did nextbook change the camera hw?

Finally got one of these custom roms to load and boot - cm10.1

I am now chasing sim toolkit error and no wifi - won't turn on.

                      Progress!

For the wifi to work copy /system/lib/narcpi.ko add a line in init.rc to load.
                        Code:
                        on boot
                            insmod /system/lib/narcpi.ko
I don't know sim toolkit refers to???

I still don't have cm-11.0 working with the nextbook kernel, freezes before launcher starts.

Really?? If so, you definitely have a strange tablet.

I think every Nextbook ROM I've seen has narcpi.ko, but I don't think any of them actually use it. It never even gets insmodded.

For example, my NX8000ND_WM has narcpi.ko, but it is not insmodded by init.rc and it is not listed under lsmod. My NX8000ND_WM uses dhd.ko for WiFi and I think the other NX8000NBD_WMN ROM I have uses something else.

Several other Nextbook ROMs also have narcpi.ko but use some other WiFi driver instead. I'm pretty sure it's just a leftover piece from some older tablet model.

Yeah I was already using the init.rc from my original tablet image and the narcpi.ko line is there and wifi doesn't work.

What I notice is I don't have a mac address now - any idea what configures this for this tablet?

Everything else seems to be working quite well!

Oh - got rid of sim toolkit by deleting stk.apk (also had an earlier error that I got rid of by deleting phone.apk)

BOOTCLASSPATH is different for cm-10.1, that's the reason for the errors. There is a telephony-common.jar and mms-common.jar in cm-10.1. There is a difference in the way the wifi is initialized also, done in init.amlogic.rc, guess you could try coping all the rc files from the cm-10.1 rom after deleting the ones from nextbook.

I'm sure you are right about narcpi.ko. I really haven't messed with the stock rom very much since the pmp5580c kernel works on my tablet.
