Update : The only way i find for the moment is to add boot.img from a stock ROM from ugoos :

    MTK_qc802_publice_8188_20130805.zip
This ROM with a 1.20 bootloader works but i cannot activate wifi.

I add this boot.img in some ROM because they do not boot without dit. Each times, it makes the ROM boot, but no wifi.

I try to add your kernel and system in the ugoos ROM > It workS but no wifi

I try to add 1.20 bootloader with your backup, but it do not boot.

Any idea to make works "esp8089" wifi in any rom ??

Please look at this post of mine:

and try to solder a usb-to-serial module like in the picture,
so looking at the debug output you can have more control on your tv-stick and try to understand what happens.

Also got this one, the red one with CXY_809III_RK3188 v2_1 20140208 on it. Got it with some weird rom on it. Now trying the mentioned qc802_publice_8188... rom.

When I try to do a custom flash with the 1.37 tool, I get loader errors. Anyone idea's?

Tried several flashes, the restore goes ok, but still a black screen at boot.

First had the idea it actually was a CS968 with MTK wifi, like somebody mentioned in an other thread. Also here: flashing ok, booting black screen. The chips are actually the same also an rk3188T, so maybe would could strip something out of their roms.

Seems these guys in China are mixing pcb's and chip like crazy. Any ideas to get this thing going on a decent level are welcome

          I currently do some test.

          qc802 rom : boot ok
some oher rom with boot.img from qc802 rom : boot ok

If i understand, this boot.img include a zImage wich is a compress kernel.
Then, if i include the qc802 boot.img in other rom, it will use the bot.img kernel, not kernel.img ??

If i include this zImage in other boot.img : boot ok

Have to try stock rom with qc802 kernel.img

          Maybe a kernel problem ?

I also try to activate wifi in an other way with the stock rom/qc802 boot.img :

          - root
          - install a terminal consol
          - mount /system in RW
          - insmod /system/lib/modules/esp8089.ko
          >> no results yet, it says something like "doesn't find hardware"

Do you actually own this very same board. The red one with the V2_1 text on it?

I'm a bit left in the dark atm. All sorts of build, roms what-so-ever, it just gives me no display output. As in a black screen... (yes tried the mask option and stuff)

Weird thing is, the device isn't dead. Flashing goes perfect, it just doesn't boot.

                  It's a kernel problem.

I try stock ROM with qc802 kernel, boot is OK.
Of course, no wifi and BT...

Someone have an idea why this kernel is the only one wich boot ?

Ah good to know. Just for sure

I'm now trying to read something on Russian 4pda forum. They seem to be more active with this device, but I'm using google translate so....

Exact error is " No such device "

Is it cause of the rk3188 is a T model maybe? The kernel behaves different.

here http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post169913 you are saying that the Neomode rom works best on this stick but without wifi and bleutooth. Which rom are you using right now ?

Just this package flash it with the 1.37 tool.

                                Here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...4-4-2-*Update*

                                Select the 4gb parameter file.
Select the T kernel but not a stock one. The stock ones didn't work for me.

It looks like after the fancy kitkat screen its going black again, just wait a while. But still looking for a kernel with MTK support, to get the wifi going.
