Yesterday, i got email from Minix. They just offiical release their new android tv box.
Model is NEO X8 and NEO X8s. SEE their products ad page first:

From the above photos, we can see:
Both Neo X8 and NEO X8s will use Amlogic QUAD core chip. the difference should be
NEO X8 use the Amlogic S802 and the NEO X8s use the Amlogic S802-H which fully support dolby and DTS. so if it means the NEO X8 don’t support Dolby and DTS? it’s wrong. Like the Tronsmart vega s89 and M8which also use Amlogic S802 chip, the Neo x8 will use xbmc to decording the dolby and dts, see some test about this s802 chip:
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php...mart-vega-s89/
so it still should work, however, just via XBMC or MX player S/W.
however, if you choose Neo X8s which use S802-H,it will support hardware decording dolby and dts. means no matter which video player you use, it will always have sound.
I think that’s the mainly difference between those two models, of course, price for those two model should be different, the NEO x8s should be expensive than the Neo X8.
and here are some other noticeable differences between the two models:
- NEO X8 will offer only 8GB EMMC internal storage, whilst the NEO X8s offers 16GB EMMC.
- NEO X8 delivers single-band Wi-Fi, whilst the NEO X8s includes dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz)
- The NEO X8s offers full Dolby Digital and DTS Support, which is not available on the NEO X8.
The NEO X8 and X8s will be priced according to their different specifications, with exact retail prices to follo
Other than this, the specification on NEO X8 and NEO X8S should be the same:
- 4K2K UHD Video Decoding and Output
- 1080p FHD Video Encoding
- Quad Core Cortex A9r4 Processor
- Octo Core Mali-450 GPU
- Android KitKat 4.4 OS
- TrustZone & Trusted Video Path for Security & DRM
- Support HDMI-CEC
- Bluetooth 4.0 and Ethernet
- Audio and Headphone Jacks, 3 USB Ports + 1 OTG Port.
The retail price for NEO X8 and NEO X8s haven’t been released, but the release date is confirmed at the end of May.
Expect these two new models, MINIX already release a new air mouse, model is NEO M1:

The NEO M1 use six-axis gyroscope support and built-in anti-shake technology for superior accuracy and control.
The form factor of the NEO M1 is much smaller than that of previous models, being just 146mm x 39mm x 12.6mm, and also includes a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Pricing information for the NEO M1 will also follow shortly.
The release date for NEO M1 should be the middle of May.
As the MINIX Prime Global Distributors, GeekBuying will get the sampleNEO X8 and NEO X8s, NEO M1 in the first time, and we will built the pre-sale link once we confirm with MInix.
Stay tuned!
