Netflix horrible quality on s89

Do you get dolby digital option in audio of Netflix on S89-H?

Very odd.... For me Netflix works great and none of these issues. In fact it looks and works better on this than any of my RK devices. So there must be something else going on and other variables causing this.

I tested my download speed using Ethernet and WiFi, Ethernet was 8Mbps and WiFi 7Mbps. My Windows 7 computer gives me 12Mbps download. That should not be a problem with the streaming of Netflix. Comparing my TV01 with android 4.4.2, there are a lot of differences. I never have a screen scaled to look like it is using a phone, example the speed test app only shows up in the middle of the screen with black borders on each side, with my TV01. I have no idea why one device with android 4.4.2 and another device with the same android 4.4.2 would act so differently.

On a positive note, this box keeps the same IP address after a reboot, that really excites me. Right now I am using the stock rom 104k4 with Finless root zip. Yesterday, I was using Finless 1.6 rom and had the same problem with Netflix.

One other thing is that there is a skylight right above my wall mounted tv. During the day, I can not see that tiny cursor, but my old eyes are not very good anymore. One other problem I have encountered, is that after my box sits for a few hours, the display is huge, can't see anything on the sides or bottom and top, I have to reboot.

Edit, testing Netflix now, and I get an audio hiccup about every two or three minutes. The video does settle down after awhile and is not too bad. If I change to a different movie, the video will lock up. I have to exit out of Netflix and start it again. Wondering if others have noticed any of these symptoms.

My testing on Netflix so far was the S89 not the -H. While I have one now (just got it) I have not tested on that. But Dolby option I cannot test as I don't have the equipment to do so. My point was image quality! For me Netflix looked much better than any RK device I have. My wife does not give a crap load about Dolby but she loved how Netflix looks and she is MAJOR PICKY about image quality!

Sorry guys, one thing I do not have is all the different equipment to test all kinds of stuff!
You have to realize that all these variables in equipment is really the issue. Might work on some, might not work on others... THIS IS ANDROID my friends! It's not always the BOX but the other equipment between the TV and the box.... Oh and YES.... the code needed to support ALL THOSE VARIENTS!....

Same here...

Just received my s89-h today....tried the stock rom with netflix, hangs after a few seconds, I can start and stop it a couple of times and it will run but very low quality and has momentary hangs every couple of minutes or so...I'm not a tester or developer but fairly computer literate....I bought through GeekBuying and the Amazon Marketplace...I will probably send it back for a refund....too frustrating to get a new device and it won't even play the basic apps that my old phone or my dual core Nook tablet will do just fine with...

Seriously, anyone having Netflix problems IT'S NOT THE BOX!
It works perfectly for me and better than anything I have had to date!

I am now on my 3rd movie today and I am loving it!!!

Firetv apps will not work on this box

1. you also need to load amazon app then it does check to see if its an fretv tried while back when they released the apps on xda.

One thing ive noticed that if you have XBMC or any other memory intensive apps open in the background, netflix will start to stutter during playback. If I go and close those apps and re-open netflix, playback is perfect.

My netflix also messes up when i have xbmc open. Quality is still pretty bad but i'm getting less netflix problems after installing 1.6. I guess i'l try 1.6 on my other s89 and see if netflix quality is any better.

It seems to me that when I open Netflix and play the first item, it is very blocky for a minute or two, but the next item I play is pretty good right from the start... never as sharp as a Chromecast, but good.

nothing to do with isp I can tell you now

1. quality is perfect on apple tv box and western digital box and also on pc via website Netflix no blotihness or buffering on the highest setting of 3.5g an hour

now these boxes I'm sure they are lesser spec's than the s89 or m8 etc, so it either the decoding or network buffer tcps etc or the way it get decoded

my speed to the US servers are around 2 - 2.5 Mbits

So it the s89 or m8 square issue weather it due to licencing or codec or weather the buffer cache needs to be adjusted
