Hi all,

Again i must thank bob for all his hard work with this rom. I do seem to have found an issue with running the bbc iplayer app which i think is flash based. Ive tried the stock flash player and the update from the market.

Both get the same result im getting sound but not the picture or the app buttons? Is this just mine or can i resolve this another way? Ive gone from 1.5 to 2.1 so im not sure if it worked on 2.0

Thanks

Bert

i have this same issue, BUT....it did start to appear with 2.0d just a few days ago. i have tried flash 10.3 and flash 11, nether will bring the picture to life. ive yet to try any other flash site to see if its global...

update, youtube player works fine and itv player ( a similar flash based player) are both fine, so it looks like an app problem - not surprising as the quality of the bbc app has always been pretty dreadful.you can however still visit the site via the browser and watch the flash videos from there

I have been flashing ICS ROMs all day trying to see how to port ICS to the G2. Boot.img now fully restores!

That is... if you flash some other ROM you can use CWM to completely restore except kernel.img! So if you try some other ROM and dont like it, just flash the following using the RKAndroid flash tool in my 2.1 ROM kit:

From my my Rom kit 2.1 flash
Recovery.img
Kernel.img
Misc.img

DONE! The beauty is flashing just these parts takes ONLY seconds! Then you will reboot into recovery. Do a CWM full recovery and ENJOY!

I now can also successfully SWAP between 2.0 and 2.1 with no issues at all!

So you guys please understand what this gives you. You can setup a performance LOW APP setup for just use... Then back that up using CWM. Now flash the 2.1 ROM and setup a GAME MACHINE! Back that up in CWM. Then make whatever setup you want for other setups. THEN.... and this is totaly cool.... use CWM to swap to these setups damn fast!

I am loving CWM now guys... it totally to me, as a Dev, is making it super easy to get my tablet back up FAST after testing ROMs as I develop....

What use to take a LONG time flashing back my full ROM, using titanium, etc... now is MUCH faster!

Enjoy,
Bob
I'm finding 2.1 on this 10G2 smooth as butter. Frankly, I can't believe it's the same tablet model I sent to Aurora, IL with a broken screen. It feels completely different (in a good way).

From 1.5 to 2.1 CWM

Wow!!!
What a difference in speed, and usability. Thank you Finless and all of you who have worked so hard at this transformation. I need to use this device for research and with Dropbox, Evernote and Scholarley (Mendeley) and now it is finally delivering as a lean and mean study machine.
I need to look into the unmount USB by Petrus mentioned earlier - but am loving the new feel of the ROM.
Finless' ReadMe instructions are great and welcome - I had to think when faced with the CWM screen at first boot, of course 'cos there was no touchscreen working, and eventually used logic to use the volume down & up button and the only button left (the on-off one) to make the selection.

And, yes, I thought I'd lost all sound following reflashing ... until I realised I'd, yet again, plugged the power adapter into the headphone socket!

Finally, slightly OT, but relevant I feel, if only so others don't miss it: support for Finless' steps to try to get Archos/Arnova to comply with the OpenSource GPL and release the code - http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...o-now-NOT-GOOD! It's a sticky on this forum topic.

What still amazes me is how tireless and selfless Bob in particular is and what has already been achieved without the co-operation of the manufacturer (yet, to a large extent is arguably responsible for many people still using their product despite poor development support from them and not having ditched it).

Nice one everyone - including those who contribute their own knowledge and ideas and thank you for you extraordinary commitment to all this - an example to the rest of us to bother to try to do something for the benefit of others. It's greatly appreciated.

It does indeed but all that app seems to do is launch IPlayer in a browser - nice to have various sites all in one app though.

It does open in a browser, but is there a real difference? You click on the app, choose the program you want to watch and watch it, still via flash player.

from 1.5 to 2.1 -> wonderful - a must have

Hi Bob,

Flashed 2.1 and I must say , wow . Feels like I have a new tablet. everything works , feels faster.
The touch screen behaves much better, scrolling is smooth. I even have the feeling some applications work better ,for instance ComicReader shows all the front pages of the books, with 1.5 some had a red stop sign iso the front page for some books.
Wonderful work. Congrats to everyone who participated . Job well done!!

After flashing I had 2 widgets on the screen without icon, black box saying it couldn't load the icon. I dropped them in the wastebasket, do not know what they where. Do you have an idea?

Michel.

What can I say.

I have used 1.5 for a few weeks but liked the idea of having a Honey Comb feel without paying silly prices for it. I took the leap of faith and installed 2.1 CWM. Even better than before. Once I had worked out button savior, all is well. Just one point of interest is that having a 4 gig nand ram originally but now only having just a gig left is rather strange. Any thoughts any one.

Great job as usual Bob. Only app that I have a problem with so far is Facebook which keeps force closing, anybody else have a problem? Worked fine for me on 2.0. I tried installing from an ES File Explorer backup and also from Play Store but got FCs from both.
