Honestly.... if this is the only thing you guys can find to bitch about in my ROMs.....

            I AM HONERED!

I mean really....... give me a break
2 seconds, if that, of your life and you actually spend the time to post here about it?

It took you longer to post about it here than you will ever probably see the boot screen!

              after a few days...

Hi, Finless, first of all thank you very much for such a pretty rom, it was working great, and now with CWM!!
I say "was" working good because after a few days enjoying it, when I was transferring some music through usb, it suddenly shut off, and now it is no longer able to boot, after the first screen "FREAKTAB.COM", and the android image with the bee, below I get stripes and some graphic glitches around the screen. I have flashed, and reflashed, erased IDB... nothing seems to work.
Tell me, please, is it bricked, or do you already know about this problem?
Thanks again for your great job!

That does not sound Rom related that does look like a hardware problem. If it persists

Re flash the Arnova stock Rom and return it to the shop where you purchased it from.

I could maybe understand this response if you were paying for Bob's services! But remember you are getting his custom roms for free and after all the 1st bootscreen is not that bad. It is only displayed for a couple of seconds.
If you don't like close your eyes of flash back to stock!

so basically i cant make a negative point because its free, it obviously slightly bothers a few some users who are shusshed into accepting it. I stated that it is a great rom ! IT IS ! I've used lots and lots of custom roms on various devices with various personalised 1st Bootscreen that are completely fine and ive got nothing against them. Anyway I made a point i didn't realise I was going to get a 'veiled' "Shut up and accept it response - I want to advertise" you might as well just say that - its easier to understand. And its nothing against Damos design he obviously is given a remit of what information MUST be put on it - its just too naff looking looking with that amount of info - anyway Thanks again it is a great rom - I wont utter anything again about the bootscreen again

If there is a way to add another file that can be flashed on top of the Rom than I can do a very minimal boot screen, just with basic information on. The problem is it is hard to please everyone so we may be in the same position if that was done

And for the record nobody is shussed into accepting it is is the way it is and if you look at the amount of work that Bob does on here he has not got the time to alter his Roms to suit everybody's individual taste. The important thing is the Rom itself. I understand your saying bothered if you don't like what you see on something it bugs you I totally get it.

Pm me if you want to discuss this matter and maybe I can help

                        Hey there,
My comments were not meant to be a personal attack on yourself, constructive criticism is fine. The beauty of Android is that you can change almost anything if unlike me you are clever enough!

I wish I could, but the only problem is that my tablet was originally a clone named "LAZER", which is exactly the same as arnova 10 g2. I've flashed all kind of roms for this one, and never had a problem, because they are exactly the same, I repeat. But for warranty it should show "lazer" instead of "Arnova" when booting... there is no web from LAZER or any other one to get a stock rom.
                            Thanks

Everybody has their own preferences about things, and one of the great strengths of Android is the ability to customize the interface. That's why all our devices look different from each other (instead of so many ipads looking exactly the same). It's almost a complete turnaround of the legendary 1984 commercial that Apple put out years ago.

That having been said, there are "standard" procedures used for many ROMs across many platforms. Splash screens, for instance, can typically be changed via a bootloader. I've designed and changed splashcreens on both my HTC Droid Incredible and my HTC Rezound. Similarly, boot animations can be changed as well, provided you have root access and the ability to read/write the \system.

The thing is, this device doesn't have a bootloader like many Android devices has. The mere fact that Finless has been able to rewrite the recovery partition is quite an accomplishment in and of itself. On the flip side, instead of a *.rle file in the root directory which is typically the splashscreen, Finless has embedded that in the boot image. That's an exploit he chose to do for whatever reason that deviates from standard procedures, but it's his ROM and he can do what he wants. For instance, it's a way to "watermark" the ROM and to prevent kanging. (And frankly, I *like* the freaktab.com replacement of the Arnova logo....Archos has shown the device no love other than contracting for its manufacture in China....Finless has worked harder on the device than any code jockeys at Arnova/Archos. I don't care for the splashscreen, but see below).

In other words, if you yourself can figure out a way to swap the splashscreen in the boot.img, then party on, Garth. Otherwise, we're going to get what comes with the firmware. Besides, as mentioned above, it lasts for seconds and then you're off to whatever boot animation you want, (and I really love the boot animation I did for my tab).

On balance, it's a minor matter --- the strengths of the firmware otherwise far outweigh the issues. And I've never heard of anyone picking a firmware because of its splashscreen. That wouldn't make any sense.

                                Well said Herald.

We all know that Finless will continue to improve upon this ROM as new developments are offered. Hopefully the source codes will be released soon to open even more opportunities. Maybe even an ICS or Jelly Bean.

That being said, I'm so happy with his latest release, it would be hard for me to imagine what else to do to it.

Aside from the occasional sd card corruption, my 10g2 trucks along quite nicely now. Even though I also have a 10bG3, the G2 is my goto tab, still.. I'm not sure why, I just like it better.

I agree that we as a community should step up for Bob and get him the tools he needs to support all of these ROM's he miraculously produces with what little resources he has. As soon as I can, I pledge to help out somehow (but I spent all my hobby money at the beach last week, so it will take a few more paychecks to build back).

The boot screens look good to me, btw. The freaktab logo reminds me that I'm working with something greater than stock.
