Also let me just state... YOU CANNOT PERMANENTLY BRICK this tablet!

So once you get the drivers installed, you can flash all day long! If it bricks, you can reflash it. You can flash it with the stock update.img, Kasty, what ever you want! If it wont boot.... you can always recover it!

Of note..... I know your a n00b... Once the drivers are installed and are working with either the RK29Flash tool or the RKBatch tool.... NEVER and I mean NEVER try to reinstall the drivers! They should NEVER need to be reinstalled! That is the biggest mistake n00b's do. It is not needed.

Nothing against Kasty ROMs but until you have my GingerComb, you will never want to go back to any ROM built off the Arnova system ever again!
Heck... Kasty ROMs do not even implement EXT4 properly! So even my 1.5 ROM out performs anything else out there for Arnova's. Sorry but it's the truth! I have not spent MONTHS developing my ROMs for nothing

hey i need help now... i got the same problem...i go to hit update and it says windows is unable to update driver... and i should contact the website for maitnance??? should i hit the uninstall driver button and try again?

nvm i fixed that problem lol but now it isnt saying rock usb found...ive tried turning my tablet back on and trying again multiple times with no luck, but it has the boxes checked...should i just continue moving on with the instructions??

Just put your tablet back into flash mode and plug it back into your PC, and carry on with instructions

it is in flash mode.
my control panel says it has the rock usb installed
the RK29Update says no rock usb found
all the boxes that are supposed to be checked are
it wont let me erase idbs cause it says none is found

its saying device software was installed incorrectly but when i open it on the control panel it says rockusb...i dont know what to do

You are not in flash mode if it shows as usb.

Turn your tablet off

Do not plug it into your pc yet!

Hold the volume up

Press the reset button for two seconds than release while still holding the volume buttom, a few seconds later the tablet will go into recovery mode, the screen goes black.

Connect your tablet to your Pc with the supplied cable.

Now you are in flash mode

Hold on...hold on.... I have been stating this for a while now about the myths to get into flash mode. YOU DO NOT HOLD ANYTHING for 5, 10, or 15 seconds! Thats total BS! All of this is done in less than 1-2 seconds MAX!

In the end.... It's pretty damn simple!


Have the tablet booted up to the desktop.
YOU MUST HAVE POWER CONNECTED! If power is not connected then the tablet boots a different way!

Now plug in the USB cable. Yes Windows will bong about a device... FORGET THAT... your in USB removable drive mode... We do not care about that for flashing! DO NOT try to install drivers at this point... You will be banging your head trying!

Now while holding VOLUME UP..... Use a pin to hit the reset hole! You will know you hit the reset hole as the tablet will go BLANK screen. YOU DO NOT HOLD THE RESET PIN HOLE ONCE IT RESETS and the screen goes blank!!!!!! Release the reset pin hole right away!!!
KEEP holding volume up for no more than about 2-3 seconds! You should here Windows BONG about a device being connected!

IF YOU HOLD VOLUME UP or RESET PIN HOLE too long, it will put the device into a different mode! This is the mistake many people make. They hold volume up too long (most common mistake) or hold the reset pin hole too long!

Again... REPEAT....
Power plugged in
USB cable plugged in
Tablet is at the desktop
Press and hold volume up
HIT the reset pin hole for NO MORE than 1 second while holding volume up!
Release volume up in about 2-3 seconds NO MORE... By then Windows should have BONGED....

If you hold volume up too long, the tablet will go into a different mode and windows will say something about "Your USB device has failed" etc etc..... If you get that... You held volume up too long or reset AND Volume up too long!

If you don't get the USB device failed message... GOOD... Your in flash mode! Now install the driver.

i did wat you said but my tablet restarted up and it says exactly as follows

*then it gives you options to click on but i dont have buttons so they dont work

Thanks sooo much that is what i must have been doing...every website i went to someone said 15 seconds so thats what ive been doing and i did keep getting the message but i thought u were supposed to get that message. THANKS!! do you have any idea on my current situation lol i feel like im stuck in a gudder ): should i just select the reboot now and hit the power button??

OMG i feel so retarded i got it and it looks so amazing!!!! what i had to do is uninstall driver and then turn it on and off and then reinstall it... works amazingly thanks you guys sooo much (: n now i know how to do it for later reference Thanks (: im soo happy and your rite i do love it (:
