Hi Bob, your rom is working great! I love it! It is very fast! The only trouble i'm having is some apps from gplay say "your device isn't compatible with this version". Also, the physical search button does not pop up the search function unless you're in gplay. Any advice? Thanks so much for your hard work! This is amazing! I really thought I was stuck with this locked up tablet until I found the "Finless". You are one hell of a guy and this community of people is amazing as well! This site ROCKS!

Howdy all. I'm new here. I also own a "Premium 9" and will be trying this out in the very near future.

Quite frankly, I have not used this tablet very much due to it being sluggish and locked down. I can't thank Finless & the other developers here enough for their hard work. I hope to report back soon with my results.

wukash, thanks for testing. I did not know you had a search hard button and I had left out "quick Search box" as part of debloat. Looks like you need that. So I am making 1.5A which will now list that in the APP Injector package under stock applications. You will need to make sure you inject that back in.

Also regarding "apps not compatible". I have tweaked the build.prop file to try and fix that in 1.5A ROM.
However if it still has an issue please understand this. Your device was not Google Certified to begin with. Thus your build.prop file tells google what your device is and in doing so may also cause you to get apps that show as incompatible. I am hoping my little tweaks I made help this. If not then your going to have to help more so we do not have to keep flashing ROMs to tweak build.prop. That is your going to need a root file explorer and try different build.prop files to see what it does.

Try this ROM first and let me know what happens. YOU MUST erase IDB again and flash the entire thing.

FYI get Titanium Backup APP from Gplay to backup your APPs if you dont want to install them all over again. ES FIle explorer also will backup your apps and it allows root file access and ability to edit build.prop.

If it still has app not compatible issues then I will send you some more build.prop files and tell you how to replace them and clear the cache so you do not have to reflash all the time.

Here is ROM 1.5A with Serach Box in App Injector and a tweaked build.prop.

I was able to flash the latest 1.5a ROM and the device boots fine. It's very fast.

The only glitch I experienced was around the app injector. I'd customized the apps.csv with some of my own additions and zipped that (using the latest version of WinRAR). The injector didn't like some items, so I unchecked them. (This only happened for my own additions, as far as I recall.) However, the other items I had checked, like Google Play, failed to install.

I have since restored the original package.zip, but receive the error "You don't have Root access." I wonder if installing the latest SlideME Marketplace has somehow un-rooted the device.

I'd be happy to try any suggestions or provide any additional details. I plan to re-flash and start again from scratch and will report back.

          Cheers,

          DB

          Update:

Issues appear to be resolved. Re-flashed, re-run App Injector (with original package.zip) and Google Play installed without a hitch. I've heard that 99% of all tech support problems originate between the keyboard and the chair, and this time it's not wrong.

          Thanks again!

            Newbie with 9p

            Hi guys,

I just joined this forum yesterday because of this thread. I got my NextBook 9p a couple of months ago. I am an old Linux user and a web/database developer, however I am a newbie with tablets and Android.

I am really impressed by the work you guys have been doing, creating the rom and providing feedback, that is awesome. I would like to flash my 9p and provide feedback as well.

I am quite new at this, would really appreciate it if someone would point me in the direction of the basics of doing full backups and flashing the rom.

            Thanks

            {UPDATE}
I downloaded the rom and read the readme. It is well written and seems straight forward. I can see where you want this updated from nextbook 7 to nextbook 9. I will take notes.
            Thanks again.

              Hi Twoslow

First things first getting the drivers installed, the most important step!

              Follow this guide

              Installing Rockchip drivers for flashing!

Once you have these installed your ready to flash just follow Bobs read me file in the Rom folder your downloaded.

As for back up the program I use is Titanium Pro, although there is also a free version the pro version has far more features and it is only about 4 pound but well worth it.

There are others like Appbackup and restore which back up programs installed on your tablet as an apk file which if you don't know is an executable install file for your program so once it is backed up, simply return back to that file in any Android file manager and it will install the program back, the only draw back is that it every program has to be manually installed from the apk files to your programs that you backed up.

Titanium on the other hand can restore all of your back ups in one go.

              Hope this helps a little

                Everything Worked Perfect!!

                You guys are awesome!!

I just flashed my 9p, followed the readme to the letter and it worked great.
The only changes I would make on the flash documentation is to update the versions numbers. Everything else is very well done.

I have just installed the apps with app injector. I am now going to restore my original apps which I backed up using app backup. I next need to figure out how to get SlideMe and Android Market working.

                Cheers, Eric

                    Yes I found it, excellent.

There are a couple of things missing. There is no way to play videos. There was a built in app which played video files. Also there was the kobo e-reader, which is not included in the rom.

                    Any recommendations for replacements?

Props to Finles, the system boots quite fast! Also the system would have a number of short freezes when navigating, now it runs smoother. I have not done any extensive battery tests, however the battery is not draining as fast as it did before.

With the original rom there was hardware listed for a compass and never worked. This is listed again, Is this a driver issue or does the hardware actually exist?

                    Thanks

There are many video players available. I use mx video player myself.

For the other question there is no compass hardware. Your seeing the left over software in the standard Android AOSP. These cheap tablets usually do not have, compass, GPS, or magnetic sensor.

I don't know if this is related to last weekend's ROM flashing, but I noticed today that my 9p would not boot when I pressed the power button or held it for 2 seconds. The screen is black. The adapter was plugged in with a red light. (It's amber now, which I think means it's fully charged.) But the tablet appears dead. When I connect the USB and pressed the reset button, I noticed that it is detected by the PC. I attempted to re-flash with the stock ROM, but the screen remained blank.

                        Any suggestions?

ROMs can't kill hardware really, but it sounds like you had a hardware failure or something is screwed up with the battery / charging? My LED is green when charged. Red when discharged and charging. And amber when charging above about 50%. It's a tri-state LED.
Some Tablets wont flash if the battery is below a certain level. Also just to be sure, if the NAND got corrupt for some reason, always erase IDB and flash the loader before trying to flash a ROM when things arent working..

                          Hope something helps,

I ran into this same issue. The power button would not start the unit, I even tried the reset button and all button combinations, however the P9 would not start.
I found if you leave it un plugged for a bit, then plug in the AC adapter the unit will start. While the P9 was running I unplugged it and was able to put it in stand-by or re-boot. If plugged in and powered down, then the unit would not work with the power button.

So for the short term, to get it going you will need to use the AC adapter to get it started, then unplug the adapter.

                            Cheers, Eric

Thanks for the input, Finless & TooSlow. My tablet has come back to life (so to speak). I had unplugged the power adapter for several days suspecting a glitch in the area you mentioned. Because my last action was to attempt to re-flash the stock firmware, the first time it booted up yesterday the screen displayed the reflash info and it booted up successfully. I was also able to put it into sleep mode (short power button press) and make it wake up. It also would power down completely (long, 2-3 second, power button press).

Since it seems to be behaving, I have since re-flashed the latest (1.5a) firmware without any similar glitches.

I thought the power button might have been worn out. Now it looks like the power button not working when the power adapter (possibly in combination with the USB cable) is connected.

Is this button issue inb the stock ROM too? Usually this is low level code and not part of the ROM.
