OK I compared the NP1 ICS ROM to the IT works. Seems the ICS ROM has several other drivers in it!

The IT works has one that says 43X9 which I am going to assume is kind of a generic driver for many models of wifi chips.

Now the ICS ROM has several seperate drivers in it
    fw_bcm4319
    fw_bcm4329

    etc.....

So maybe it cant figure out which one to use.

So we know the IT works has the 4319 in it. So maybe try deleting the other ones one by one and rebooting. Leaving ONLY the fw_bcm4319.

    Some other ideas...

WOW! Thanks for the detailed explanation!

What I did is took the driver files (*.bin) from the 0811 ROM and cpoied these into the same folder in the ICS ROM.
After the reboot it was stillnot working. After that I copied the conf file and rebooted. No wifi.
After that I copied the file wlan.ko and rebooted. What I noticed was that when I pressed "Turn on wifi" button, I immediately get the start screen. After removing the wlan.ko file and replaced the original one (from ICS) it was trying to find wifi for about 20 seconds and the returns with the start screen.

Now I am going to try to delete some file you mentioned.
I think I can not finish it today. It is almost 00:00am. Time to go to bed and dream about ITWORKS and NEXTBOOK tablets.

I will give it a shot tomorrow and will let you know something!

Many thanks for your time Bob!!!

Tried a lot of options. None of them seems to work.

My last hope is the wlan.ko file. Although I think that is not solving the problem.
Strange part is that we know what wlan card is in the tablet, but no drivers are working.

Sounds not good to me. So said Bob too...

Please ask Bob (Finless) if he can publish them?

                I don't know Bob.

I am willing to try this but I think we need a little more info on this.
                Otherwise nothing to try.

I have been on holiday. Back now, will start to investigate again soon! =))

After some searching in Google I found out that the tablet is equal to the NEXTBOOK 7 PREMIUM.
This tablet is using a capacitive touchscreen.

Ofcourse everybody wants to have Android ICS 4.0.3. Thats the reason I found this forum.

I used the custom ROM from Finless (http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...nd-Google-Play)

This is working very smooth except that WiFi is not working in this image.

After some communication with Finless I downloaded the stock ROM (according the instructions on this forum) from my second I.T.WORKS TM701 tablet and uploaded this to him.
Maybe he can extract the drivers from the Gingerbread ROM and port this to the ICS ROM.

Looking forward to a possible solution. Otherwise... back to Android (and gently ask if the stock ROM can be rooted)

BTW: Without rooting this device it is possible to have access to Google Play!

                  Thanks in advance Bob!
                  Hi,
I also own a tm701 and want to update. I tried the files on NextBook but I get a notification that the device is incompatible. Could you manage to update with the NextBook files? Our do you have another update?

                  Regards,

                    different kernels

Like th3 NextBook #0811, the stock gb kernel is 2.6.32.27. The ICS uses 3.0.1. The bcm4319 (or any other .ko from the 2.6 kernel) won't work. You would need the source for that 3.0 kernel to build that driver....

If they both share the same kernel and its an rk2918 insmod SHOULD work.
ALMOST tempted to flash my #0811...lol

Hi all, I just installed this rom (Next_7P1N ICS Finless 1.2 Root and GPlay) in my SN 0511 Next7p, and everything is working fine, except of course the wifi. I was doing some Google searching and came across this thread, if I may post the link here:

... where they are discussing the TomTec Ultimate 10 and similar tablets with an ICS ROM that appears to have the bcm43x9 wifi and the drivers are in these roms. Interesting, that there are different roms for the 2011 tablets and the 2012 tablets In the 2011 roms, the wifi is working on the 2011 tablets, but not on the 2012 tablets. It's a very lengthy thread, and I just discovered it now, and I'm still at work. I'll give it a more thorough read over the weekend, but perhaps here we will have the kernel modules for our non-working wifi. Maybe it's just another dead end, but I thought I must share this.

                          interesting

It would seem that installing the driver in conjunction with corresponding nvram.txt is the way to get the wifi working. The same method should work. If you already have this rom, the bcm4319 txt file should work, but would place the B23 as well, with both drivers (in /etc/firmware/). I am 99.9% certain it will work and you will have wifi. Reading that link reminded me of ndiswrapper in linux and what files in windows drivers it used to get wifi to work. Great find. Should work...

                            good feedback ...

Thanks for your input, Kuazar. I downloaded something while I was still at work, it was on a link on one of the pages I read, not the 1st page. Anyways, I will follow your advice, and I may still have to download the proper rom, but I will be sure to post back here once I get that far.

                              crossing fingers

The way I understand it, your tab is really a NextBook #0811. The wifi drivers are fw_bcm4329 and fw_bcm4329apsta. There are two ".txt" files also. nvram_4319_201008 and the B23 that was talked about in the link you posted. (dmesg in adb outputs it as bcm4319 powered by Rockchip in gingerbread. you might want to check this in gb before you begin) But the other models are broadcom also. But are named with 43X9 and with different nvrm.txt files. They do not work on the#0811. The nvram has different mac addresses. So I am not sure which broadcoms they are. (Also, my #0811 has athlan.bin. I could be wrong, but am thinking this is atheros. If so - where is the nvram.txt for this? Which tab uses it? Dunno. It might not matter for you. ) Lets see what happens. Good luck. It would be great if it works for you. It would mean the possibility of an ICS universal rom forthe NextBook7 original... that is if sound and buttons work. Step in the right direction tho, if it works...

                                what I found ...

Hi kuasar - You are literally a fountain of information. First of all, you are correct, the YF0511 is the same tablet as the YF0811. In fact I used the 0811 stock rom found here on Freaktab to un-brick this very tablet. Then I upgraded to Finless' rooted 0811. Now the ICS rom. I can confirm that sound is working, as are the soft buttons. Only the wifi is not, at least as far as I can tell.

OK, I unpacked the update.img that I downloaded at work yesterday, but as I said before, I am not sure now if this is for the 2011 or the 2012. In the /etc/firmware folder, there is an athtcmd_ram.bin, athwlan.bin.z77, bcm43x9_fw.bin, bcm43x9_nvram.txt, also fw_bcm4329.bin, fw_bcm4329_apsta.bin, the nvram_B23.txt is there, also a softmac text file, a few other files that I don't know if they are related to wifi.

I copied the entire contents of the firmware folder into my tablet's /etc/firmware folder, overwriting whatever files existed there before, then I rebooted. The end result is that the wifi is still not working. If I try to turn on the wifi, it waits for maybe 20 seconds trying to turn it on, then goes back to off. This is the same as I was experiencing before. I then checked all the permissions, and I set everything for rwx for all. Still the same results. Maybe I have to chmod, if so I will have to install a terminal, as there is none installed yet.

I'm not done yet, because now I will try a more systematic approach, using first the 2011 rom, then the 2012 rom.
