Make sure for ANY .ko files you copied over that you set the permissions to 6777 (full permissions).
ES file explorer allows you to set file permissions.

      nvram_4319_201008.txt

      Plus one on the permissions.
do you have the nvram_4319_201008.txt also?
What does dmsg | tail or dmesg tell you?

If you dont have the file, let me know
I would do a factory reset, then reboot...

EDIT: I was wrong about the 43x9.bin files. They ARE for our wifi. In gb, I removed the older fw_ bin files, and used
the 43x9's. They worked. I find them to be more responsive. I then removed nvram_4319_201008.txt
and rebooted. The whole system segfaulted. I put it back in. Turned wifi off, removed the .txt file again, then rebooted again. Everything
came up. Turned wifi back on - nothing. No wifi. If you have this file and it still isnt working? If you DO NOT. I think this may be the file you need.

        try it

I opened up the system.img file
The bcm4319 is already in this rom.
There is NOT a need to insmod any .ko.
I see that stock there are several nvram.txt files.
Try the above .txt file. No need to delete or add anything else. I am sure it will work.
It could very well be as simple as a .txt file.....
If it doesn't work, I will eat the .txt file. LOL.
Let me know how it goes.
But I have a feeling that Finless will have a universal rom for the original NextBook7....

          re bcm4319 ...

Thank you for all your assistance, and thank you too, "finless" Bob.

The rom that I downloaded has the bcm4329, and the bcm43x9, but not the bcm4319. I did try the nvram_4319_201008.txt file, but I still had no wifi. I still think we are on the right path.

One thing, the boot.img is not the same format as the Nextbook, I believe it is probably the "android" format. If there is anything in there that we need, I don't know how to open that. I could attach it if you want to see it.

I have this "gut" feeling that we are on the right path, just not there yet. And I haven't taken the time to download the 2011 & 2012 roms from the 1st page. I had some chores to do outside - cutting the grass, etc. They were calling for rain tomorrow, now it's already here (but the grass is done!).

I installed a terminal app on my tablet, but it doesn't show up in my app drawer. My adb connection doesn't seem to work anymore either. adb -devices is an empty list.

OK, we will play some more.

            ok

I really dont think you need any other rom.
If you have Finless' ICS rom, download the above attached nvram.txt file,
place it in /etc/firmware/ do a factory reset, reboot and...
I believe you should have wifi....

                still no go ....

I reloaded Bob's ICS rom, so at least I'm starting from square 1 again. I added the nvram_4319_201008.txt file to /etc/firmware. The wifi still does not work, I can't switch the wifi ON.

Sorry. Just thinking, you did factory reset and reboot after adding the file?
See, the rom ALREADY has the driver. The.txt file has the mac address and other pertinent info.
dmesg lists it as a bcm4319 in your tab? What does dmesg | tail say?
Im sorry. I swore that was the missing piece. Could you please tell me the
                  Output of those commands?

                    dmesg ...

Hi kuasar, I have the USB debugging enabled, and when I connect the usb cable, the tablet says "USB debugging connected", but on my laptop, if I adb -devices, then nothing shows up. I also installed a terminal emulator in the tablet, but it doesn't show up in the app drawer. So right now, I can't get a dmesg for you. I do have a dmesg from the gingerbread rom which I am attaching here. I don't see anything for the bcm4319 in there, but my wifi was working then. Very peculiar. Maybe my wifi is something different.

                      Downloading. Will read it now.
                      Give me a second.
If you could , try to see if you can get either terminal or adb fired up, please.
I really would need the output in ICS...
                      Thanks.

                        ok

Two things I would need from adb or terminal if you have either fired up:
                        "lsmod"
                        and
"cat /proc/kmesg > kmesg.txt" (you should get a kmseg.txt file on your computer or in android depending which you use)
if you do it from adb, it would be "adb shell" space and command...

                        All without quotes,by the way.....

                        Thanks....

By the way, you might have done this already, but I would err on the side of caution
and make sure the 4319.txt file has the same permissions as the other nvram.txt files.
Just going through the what ifs in my head....

I am trying to sort this out, so bear with me, if I remember correctly, in Linux, the bcm43x9 driver is used for both the 4329 AND the 4319. WLAN.ko is the wrapper for the driver in the kernel. I am guessing that all of the NB7's that have wifi working in this ICS rom are using the 4329. Those that do NOT, such as #0811 and its twins, use the 4319. Android is capable of multiple dhcpcd. It should just load. So something is missing either in init, wpa-supplicant or somewhere else. As it stands, ALL NB7 original gb roms, which are also capable of multiple dhcpcd is having the same problem. In Linux, if the 4319 and 4329 were external wifi, and you switch back and forth between them replacing one for the other, they would each load, one might be wlan0, and the other wlan1. So I am thinking...this is whats wrong with the NB7's roms. One driver should be seen as wlan0 the other driver as wlan1, and, constantly load as such depending on which model the rom is in. In other words if wlan0 is assigned to the 4319, THAT is what WILL ALWAYS LOAD, whether its a 4319 or not. Vice versa for the 4329. But it doesnt see the other wlan at this point. Just the wlan0. I believe that THIS is the reason why some NB7's wifi work with one rom, and not the other. I do not believe it has anything to do with the kernel, OR the drivers not being there or installed. I believe the drivers ARE there and installed - Android just does not see the driver or know it should load it. That is why I was confused when I asked you to place the 4319 nvram.txt file with the mac address in the firmware folder and it didnt load. Dunno. This is all theory in my head. I could be wrong. I am investigating this.

Just something that occured to me on the way home from work....
                              Sorry for the ramblings....

                                back again ...

OK, sorry for the delay in getting back here. I found an app (Anycut.apk) that will put a shortcut on the home screen, so I can launch terminal now. No headway with adb, it seems not to let me point it to the adb usb drivers. (Windows 7 & XP)

Anyways, I have the dmesg & lsmod outputs attached here. cat /proc/kmesg or /proc/kmsg - neither one gives any output - file or folder does not exist.
