Once in mask mode, if you have errors (idb failed ...) the rom is probably no fit for your hardware (i got the same issue)

Go in mask mode (short pin) again with RKBatchTool v1.7, square must be blue, then try this one :

          Hi Kristoma,

I have the same hardware as well. I thought I had a MK809IV and falshed a 4.4 kitkat rom wich is working fine other than the wifi which I absolutely need.

After installing this kitkat rom the device is not recognised anymore by my Win 8 pc.

Sorry for asking you all the following questions but it seems you sorted everything out.

Can you please let me know how did you manage to get the device recognised by the PC? (if can also guide me on when connecting the USB OTG port (to pc) which assume is that one close to the sd card slot, if I need to power the device also with power supply, when and if the small recovery button has to be pressed, etc)
Can you also please point me out where I can download the RKBatchTool v1.7?

Regarding the ROM I downloaded that one you suggested form the chinese website.

          Thanks!!

Have any of you tried the "RESTORE" with an image that has another Boot Loader? I have fixed my MK809IV when I install other ROM that are not for it and it fixes them. I pick the Rikomagic one that its for it but it's 720p and I've been trying all kinds of ROMs and have locked up the device many times and had to RESTORE (not UPGRADE).

I had a lot of trouble with this stick, so i try a lot of things but i'm pretty a newbie.

you can download tools here for example :

And it seems that some people have problemes with driver on Windows 8 :

In order to make it detect, you only have to maintain 'recovery' button press, then plug OTG port to an USB port of your PC
                No power supply needed

Good thinking but unfortunately I am way ahead of you lol , I have tried every bootloader I could get my hands on no joy .Only thing I cannot test really is a XP machine , you don't suppose one running in virtual machine or similar would do?

I am using exactly that batch tool and driver ( did try the latest 3.7 as well) , I tried older versions of the batchtool too with no luck , total noob here myself nothing to be shamed of lol I cannot get out of the mask mode so I cannot enter flash mode I think , therefore the recovery / reset button thing does not do anything for me unfortunately .

It is not necessary to switch to flash mode, the mask mode just seems to do things in depth and is the only solution if flash mode is not avalaible

As deroad, I think your hardware can be defective

I did it! I tried with my old laptop running XP and it recognised the device immediatelly (using reset button). I installed xp driver and succesfully flashed the chinese rom (using rk batch tool 1.6).

The chinese rom has the wifi very very slow and the google play store is unusable due to lentness of connection.

I was wondering if you tried the neomode rom as at follows for MK809III or it is incompatible?

How I can I get the exact specs for the device? any good app to suggest?

Thanks a lot for your tips so far!!!!!!

It seems that with terminal emulator app you can get the device recognised by PC. I did not try it as I had a go with XP but for you it could be an option .

Im not sure about the Chinese ROM being the problem , i have found WIFI with any device i have bought of CHINA (clone phones , android sticks) tend to have a weak WIFI even after flashing a custom ROM , but like i said i am no expert .I am using my new MK809III stick connected to a Powerline Ethernet socket directly connecting it to my router upstairs as the WIFI signal was too weak for watching any HD content of the Internet, works lovely now.I will carry on trying to revive my MK809IV and will report if any success , ideas and thoughts as always are more than welcome , thank you everyone for the help so far
