Based on below, I have also made a 2.1 GingerComb using the old 1211 release I used for my 1.5 ROM. So you have a choice on which to try. Both download links are below!

OK folks.... with the success of my Gingercomb ROMs on the Arnova Tablets, I am now going into BETA TEST for porting Gingercomb 2.1 CWM to the Nextbook 7P.

THIS ONLY for the Nextbook 7P Serial Number YF1211

This is a full 2.1 with ClockWork recovery, semi-debloated, App Injector, etc!

Notes:
I used the latest 1211 ROM download from the nextbook site. So this should have the latest wifi fixes, etc they talk about! This is NOT the same ROM used in my 1.5 ROM. I compared the 2 and the download from Nextbook "seems" newer than what I used in 1.5. However if this ROM has a problem with wifi or others issues, I can build against what I used in my 1.5 ROM.
I will tell you something wierd! I can test the build using the 1.5 ROM base and my Arnova 10G2 kernel BUT I cannot test the latest nextbook ROM against my kernel. So for sure they changed something!


I am unsure if the battery icon in the status bar will work. I have not applied any fix yet as I am not sure it is needed. You guys will have to let me know.

This is only semi-debloated. This time I left the stock apps in like the browser, email, etc. I removed all the "add-on" apps and you can put them back along withthe Google Apps with APP injector.


PLEASE read the READ ME. You must reboot after first flash in the proper way. After reboot if you get a bunch of errors or force close issues, you rebooted too soon and will need to reflash again.

REMEMBER! Just like most my ROMs that have major changes to it, ERASE IDB and FLASH THE LOADER! Do this before reporting any problems! You can have screwy things happen if you do NOT erase IDB. Loader is also very important!

Alright first off I have an 0911 which the old 1211 v1.5 worked.

Yeah so my touch screen is wonky I have to touch an inch down and to the right an inch to click the right object? This makes trying to test it impossible although it might work on an actual 1211 but I think its for the 1011's lol. So we need other testers.


Alright after second reboot the screen is working fine (yeah reboot it twice lol).
The wifi is reading error when trying to turn it on and soft touch buttons are dead.

Finless hold-up don't delete this one it might work for an actual 1211 or 1011 as I tested with an 0911.

Yes the battery icon does correctly display the battery level as far as I can tell.

Alright I'll test the old rom gingercomb build when you get it posted.

Oh I have no plans to delete it. I just see that I am going to need 2 versions! So the BETA will now be "new" and "old"......

Alright after testing the 2.1b beta these are my findings.

Works correctly
-Touch screen
-wifi
-sound
-touch buttons
-flash 11 works

What doesn't work
-battery icon displays ?
-tilt controls are backwards (i have a fix for this)
-Screen orientation is off (same fix as tilt controls)

Haven't tested yet
-CWM


This might just be 0911
The fix for tilt controls and screen orientation is add this line to the build.prop also this messes with the bootanimation in mine (and I really like this boot animation )

ro.sf.hwrotation=270


Also I ended up flashing it twice as my superuser app was force closing after 30 minutes (I'll post again if it happens)

I forgot to mention the package.zip looks to be from the arnova 7bg2. Some apps can't be injected

Hmmm OK seesm like it might be a 0911 ROM.

The ro.rotation thing I can fix easy in the boot animation. IF this is going to be set this way in build.prop. I just don;t know. What will others want?

As for package.zip.
Your APPs from the original Nextbook are not going to work. Well maybe some might. The "system" APPs in package.zip are Cube APPs made as system APPs to work with the Gingercomb ROM (the Cube ROM). There is no others! They are Cube APPs. You cannot take system APPs from the original Nextbook and try to put them in /system/app. For sure most will not work! They are not compiled against the GingerComb framework!

So I need to know why you say they wont work when APP Injected? They should work as they are compiled agains the framwork of this ROM.

Just to explain. Any APPs that go in /system/app must be compiled against the framework of the ROM. The Google Apps are known to work on this Cube Framework. So again I would like to know what problems your having using APP injector and why they are not working? It cant be all of them for sure. Maybe just one or 2?

Also just a comment. You should APP inject system APPs first before doing anything! Why? Because some APPs can remount system as Read Only and then App Injector will fail and write a 0 byte file to /system/app. Petrus will work on this issue but it is important to inject system apps first! Then install things like ES File Exporer, etc rooted APPs that CAN AND DO remount system as RO.

I tested the CWM with a backup I did after the second reflash works awesome by the way .

To clarify I only used the package.zip included with the rom kit downloaded above.
I injected everything that was listed to test.

These are the apps I meant that give problems for my tab.
-Angry Birds I get a screen change (black screen as if launching) and then back to the app drawer
-Google Earth force closes right at opening
-Tiki golf 3d free force closes right at opening

Also I know ES File Explorer mounts the system/ as RO. This is what I've done in the past to mount it as RW all you have to do is launch ES File Explorer. Select the option 2nd from the bottom in the settings menu. Then hit the home key to leave it running in the background. Then do what you want to system/ folder such as appInjector.

As far as I can tell ES File Explorer only mounts system/ as RO when told to or when you close out of it.

So this works awesome on my 0911. I'll keep testing this release though.

Also Don't worry about the build.prop and the boot animation I can fix those on my own as I haven't seen many 0911's around here.

Ha OK... makes sense actually!

Those 3 APPs on install look at your graphics capabiltiies and pic .lib files and setup based on that.

I think I will exclude those from now on in the package. They came with the Cube ROM. Those are the same APPs the 7G2 and other smaller than 9.7" tabs had a problem with.

Awesome I didn't know apps could do that I thought they were pretty much self contained and couldn't look outside of themselves.

So as a test I manually installed each one without using appInjector and they worked fine.

0811 nextbook

Hey Bob just to let you know the newer 1211 beta is running great on the 0811 models lol makes gingerbread look like a comador64 lol only issue is flash 11 still but 10.3 still works great!!!
