I like the idea, but you need to shift the market. You need to make a box that is powerful, smooth, and easy enough for our spouses and kids to use. If you make a box that we can hook up, set up, and leave for the others in our household to play/watch smoothly, then you can sell 2-4 per household instead of 1 or 2. People can justify a higher price tag for a device and support if they can then dump the cable company and not have hassles when the wife and kids try to use it. As far as I can tell, EVERY box out there has a weakness or problem that prevent it from reliable use by people who aren't technically inclined. It's getting closer, but we're not there yet. I think a project like this could change things up a lot. Beat the convenience of Cable/satellite and this media will become a market force rather than a cool gadget.

Why not use a RK3288? The RK3188 is rather dated.

I'll pass on this one but looking forward to V2 with a better chip.
