Minix Neo X8/X8-H Stock BETA 4 in flashable ZIP format

    Ok, ok, ok, I'm also able to freeze the system
    It runs for ~7 hours without any freeze (last 2 hours stress test), but if I do math operations (e.g. integer), e.g. at AnTuTu between 8% and 35%, I'm able to freeze the system...
    The easiest way to freeze the system is to use 'PassMark PerformanceTest' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...mark.pt_mobile) and there at CPU do 1, 2 or 3 times the integer test and the system freezes....
    I never know before that this can depends on the kernel, I thought it's only a problem of the SoC (because at stock it isn't a problem)...
    BUT after this I find out with "816/1992 interactive" at stock I'm also able to reproduce it at 'PassMark PerformanceTest'...
    Only a quick shot because now I have to go to bed...
    I will analyse it tomorrow...

      I have been saying it's in /etc/

      When I look at my beta004 there is a folder in /etc/ called init
      It's not called init.d
      And yes init.rc the last line shows /etc/init

      I tested the stock ROM (I rooted it) and put a script /etc/init/
      and it worked no problem.

      Your BETA004 seems to be missing something

        Im having reboots tonight watching SD video on XBMC. Really wondering if this is a heat problem. The system was very unstable for me when using the higher CPU fix, reboots every 5 min but with stock I've maybe had a couple now tonight. Whatever, its not great.

          That's why I stay on beta 2. Haven't had 1 reboot and machine has been on constantly.
          With beta3 or 4, I'm gonna get a reboot within the hour, every hour. Never fails. I've tested it. I'm content with beta 4rom AND finless CPU fix from may 29. (Finless 1.0) lol. Works perfectly for now so that's how I'm using it I guess. Not ideal but whatever

            Beta 3 is when they changed the throttling and the temperatures on the CPU apps went strangely low isn't it? I'll. Probably flash back to 2 tonight.

                I'm getting temped to try and mod my X8 for cooling but considering I bricked my S89 doing that I'm holding out for a software fix.

                  Personally, I am on the original shipped rom, it's doing everything I need it to do except for Netflix. Netflix is no biggie though because my tv does netflix in HD.....SmartTV. My box never reboots, I don't have stuttering in xbmc, even in 1080p, after tweaking the advancedsettings.xml file. I am VERY happy with my X8-H!

                    I have the exact opposite experiece and presently DO NOT recommend this product to anyone... Buyer beware....
                    My experience to date is that I purchased a MINIX NEO X-8H as an upgrade to my reliable AC Ryan product and someone recommended this product as a great advance. I have yet to get it to work reliably, it is EXTREMLY buggy and unreliable. Out of the box it DOES NOT work on my LG D2524P 3D PC Monitor or KONKA 47" LED TV via HDMI. I have had to upgrade to 002 beta 4 to get it to display on the PC monitor and have factory reset it. It is extremely buggy as it crashes constantly when I plug in a USB thumb drive, or just soft reboots. Sometimes it gets stuck on the MINIX android screen and other times it stays on the MINIX boot screen. The HDMI display is corrupted sometimes if the cable is moved slightly which means you can't physically move or touch the product once you have it working. Is there any hope that this product will be reliable, stable and usable?
                    I still have my AC Ryan to use at least, and it works like a tank....

                      I have NONE of those issues, not a single one. Maybe you got a lemon. Sorry to hear yours is so bad, i wish you could see how this thing works when it is working properly. It really is nice. Maybe you can exchange yours.

                        Agreed and this box is now my main box to my living room TV.

                        Blows away any RK 3188 box I have and trust I have many!

                          I also purchased X8-H as an upgrade to my old X7 and I'm really satisfied. It does have some bugs for the time being but nothing stops me from using the box as my main entertainment hub. I'm still running Beta2 and I don't have any of the problems mentioned here. Reading all these issues I'm not in a hurry to move forward to Beta4, I may wait for Beta5. Bob do you run Beta4 as well?

                            Just thinking the reboots could be caused by the power being used by an external HDD I added (mentioned in another thread). This used to happen on the old boxes and TV sticks. I'll attach my powered USB hub tonight and see if that helps.
