    Hi Jellywobbles

Will give that a go - have been using 2gb micro SD cards up tip now. Unfortunately, got nothing until I hit 32gb but I'll give it a try on that!

    Many thanks indeed!

You can use any SD card as long as it's at least 4gb. When you've done reformat it using Windows back to its original size

I had happilly flashed 1.1.5 before on my MX (clone) to get the right MTD layout and then CronicCorey's MXLinux-1.0, then flashed dhead's 13.1 MX build (from xbmc forum), and everything wis running fine.
Yesterday I wanted to try OpenElec, since the reviews are positive, but that requires NEW MTD layout..
Anyway, going to try to boot with the mx2-boot-recovery files and flash 1.1.6 straight over that...
        Wish me luck!

Just a word of caution - I tried 1.1.6 and my boot loading screens changed from generic to Matricom but my box would hang on the second boot screen.

I'm having a go as we speak!

Pm me your emails dress and I'll send you some solid recovery images.

Good luck - having a go myself as I write this!!!

          Thanks

            PM sent..
Yes, I did notice the Matricom first boot image, too, but at this point really don't care...
Just want to get to new MTD...

Right then, used boot loader recovery and then tried flashing 1.4.1 from the android recovery screen but fails verifying package - tried two images an both the same, The box clearly doesn't want to load it up!

Now going to try 1.1.5 again to get the MTD layout and then will try Jellywobbles suggestion using an 8GB card I found to completely reflash the ROM and see where we are from there!

              Cheers

                First snag.

in 1.1.5 matricom I have no available memory for Play Store downloads. Looking at Data usage, the blue bar is full on the Play Store heading with a whopping 4.8mb having been used!

This image doesn't see the MX2's internal flash memory. Nor can I amend the App to save play store downloads to a mounted SD card.

Looks like I'll be presuming we're on Old MTD and try Jellywobbles suggestion..........!

You can't make this sh** up!

I experienced the same with the 1.1.6 image, flashed using the mx2-boot-recovery.zip and the firmware right after.... no /data partition!
I don't remember having this much hard time the first time around; can't remember what I flashed first, but recall the Matricom automatic OTA prompted me to take update, twice, which I did, all the way up to 1.1.5; back then there wasn't much for the New MTD as far as ROMs go, so I didn't take it...
                  Anyways...

                    It's not easy is it!?

Just tried using Jellywobbles suggested method to use the HDraw image creator.

I've opened it and I need to choose an image to apply to the SD card but the suggested file starts MX2.

Am I correct in thinking my firmware images should start with G18? Or could it be the same thing?!

                    Thanks

Sorry - me being thick - it says it will make the device an MX2 device so should completely reflash device. Here goes nothing..........!

Would you believe it, the full SD card image is corrupted when unpacking the RAR. Tried on Mac and using Winrar and it won't extract.

If anyone has a copy of the IMGC file to use with the SD card creator I'd be really grateful!

Zero luck tonight - not really managed to do anything that worked!

Will try again tomorrow. Good luck with this - will pick up again tomorrow!

                        Cheers

                          Well, tried everything!

Managed to get the IMGC download and created the 4GB image on my SD card. No success. No response from the box at all

Also tried the MX2 boot recovery with accompanying 1.1.4 image which is another foolproof Rom update method - no success.

Finally, I tried to use the uboot.bin from Bennibenassi'e method to create another SD card from my manufacturers SD card creator then copied the rest of the files to the card to try a flash and nothing there either.

My only other options now are to flash stock 1.1.4 back to device and find out MTD layout and then try a Linux install to see if I get any luck. OR

Just sell it with Android on it and get a better box that isn;t such a picky mother f***er!

I have an M8 box (which has its own issues granted) but you only have to look at it funny and it goes into recovery mode! None of this SD card creation nonsense!

                          Good luck you guys!

                          Cheers

Thanks for the firmware Luis, will have a look at it. This is for generic MX box, correct? Can you take a screenshot of Settings>About and the MTD layout (cat /proc/mtd in the terminal app)? That would be greatly appreciated.
I just went from 1.1.4 fw to MX Linux (Gotham 13.1, one from Matricom's forum) for now, and may have to stay with it. It is stable and runs good. I was just tempted with the OpeElec release....
