I wouldn't know, u can get custom TWRP for certain models.
If you are thinking of buying new tv box - look first in the forum, stay away from Rockchip devices, maybe Allwinner H6, otherwise Amlogic S905x2 / S922 are hot right now.

Allwinner is cheap to have but almost no custom rom ...ask superceleron

Use the v3.2.3-1 shared here in this thread, made for S905x2 and Oreo, it should work.

some else shared a 9.0 TRWP for the T95Q but when I unpacked it was labeled for Oreo.

I tried to install it using the stock recovery

                        yes software works but
I can't switch to other software because
reset button and usb 3.0 does not work
                        can't install software via usb
the only solution i know TWRP

Problem is if you are using "3.0usb" - that is wrong, always install firmwares from the USB 2.0 port of device or through SDcard.

Have you tried extracting the recovery.img from the twrp.Zip and flashing the recovery with AmlogicFlasher.apk or OfficialTWRP.apk ????
Doing the Flash with the app with grant TWRP access, but because of System-as-Root and DM/AVB-Verity the recovery flash is not permanently installed. You will need to Flash recovery with app again when you need to enter TWRP.
