    I installed lots of apps and had a heavy weight system with 3 xbmc etc. I never had any freezes or hangs. Since installing TWRP v1, backup with it and restore, I'm getting freezing & hangs regularly in android & most apps. Even after TWRP Version 2.

    So I wiped everything in TWRP then factory reset and installed a fresh 1.8 Finless ROM. But I'm still getting freezing & hangs very regularly. Looks like some file management wrt internal memory addressing.

    From very smooth running before TWRP, suddenly it's almost unusable regularly! Anyone else noticing any major change?

        I for once don't notice nothing different, but i'm not that easy user.

        Would be good to log this things, for some is working for others isn't, without some info it's hard to trace.

          It did not occur after installing twrp, it started immediately after restoring a nandroid in version 1. Most installers I guess have not restored a backup.

          I don't have access to the box now, but I don't think logs help as it happens during regular running of android.

          This is what a minority report about m8 even before twrp saying the box is basically unable. It happens every few minutes freezing the system for nearly a minute while mouse keeps moving the pointer but doesn't do anything.

          It's worse in Xbmc. Or in file managers deletiNg a folder with few files takes a few minutes instead of few seconds as before twrp. My system was super fast with no hangs or freezes or crashes but now it's every few minutes. Basically as the minority say before twrp it's totally unusable.

          I think it happened after twrp 1 (maybe version 2 is fine?) Restore, due to HOW RAM file system is used & addressed and/or:
          Post Twrp installation the Superuser is freezing most actions to check too much and/or something else.

          Last night I installed two pro versions of busybox apps with new superuser versions but no joy.

          I'll have a play with SuperSU & freeze it later toNight.

            I tried latest supersu pro. after
            +
            numerous wipes & running Bob's s89 rooter & various clean rom installs

            The freeze/hangs improved somewhat but:

            still getting freeze/hangs all over android
            +
            xbmc, oman which was fine before & few others

            I suspect after I did a complete wipe in TWRP it said you have no root and do you want a new superuser?

            I had to restore the fresh nandroid backup. So after I said yes, it installed it and updated partition tables etc.

            I think M8 has trouble accessing low level memory addresses now under certain circumstances now. It basically hangs or just freezes regularly when accessing some memory locations and partition tables and sectors. Maybe M8 uses slightly different tables than previous AmLogic boxes.

            I will test more but it's not looking good. Before the android system & apps & 2 xbmc apps by oman & spmc were running flawlessly.

                hi abdul,

                the box O/S died last night, bootloop on startup logo, going out now but this is my plan for tomorrow night till end of weekend

                * install & run stane's linux for a day or two
                * install & run Bob's v1.7 for a short while to test
                * install & run Bob's v1.8beta for a short while to test
                * install & run Bob's v1.8 to test

                1.8 is what i need to run properly again and will upload that dmesg probably on the weekend

                flashing bob's s89 rooter & installing SuperSU Pro v2.02 fixed most freezes/hangs in android but not all and xbmc is still hopeless, before there was no problem.

                let me know if you like dmesg from 1.7 & 1.8beta i'll be running on friday & saturday to test. 1.8 probably on sunday.

                Thanks.

                  After checking stane's linux I'll also try to see if this works: USB Burning Tool:

                    I've tried installing this in recovery and rebooting my M8. After reboot, I used the reboot program to access the recovery. It boots into stock recovery every time. Where did I go wrong? I'm using Finless 1.8 ROM.

                      can you upload the file in your root called:
                      recovery.img
                      to:

                      for me please?

                      I had your exact problem but once I deleted recovery.img it goes into twrp.

                      but now I need it. Keep a copy.

                      Thanks.

                        Hi, I have seen the file in various roms but there's nothing named recovery.img on the root of my device. Can you please elaborate?

                          well that's what's it's reverting to. install file manager: Total Commander

                          launch Total Commander and search in root screen:
                          SD Card (top one which is actually internal memory)
                          file system root (further down)

                          move it to physical: sd card1

                            Abdul,

                            can you make a flashable update zip to revert to 3e recovery system for M8?

                            Thanks.

                                Thanks abdul,

                                caught in eternal bootloop even after reflashing twrp.
                                i typed numerous posts helping tens of people and get thanks from them but when asking for a simple file upload that takes 2 minutes: no response from any of the same guys! nvm.

                                Thanks again, i'll try it.
