    Pipo P1 RileyROM 1.3 (RK3288)

Pipo has a new version of the firmware for the P1 dated 8/4/14...so I've made a new ROM.

Early testing reveals that GPS is working on this version. I haven't had time to test anything else.

I've upgraded the flash tool to v2.2, but I'm still unable to erase IDB on my tablet...hopefully others can do so on their's.

With the version update, you may notice a little bit different terminology on the screens...but it works the same as the previous version.

    1. Download the ROM Kit for your version (wifi or 3g).
    2. Unzip the kit on your desktop, or wherever you downloaded it.
    3. Open the AndroidTool.exe
    4. With your tablet turned on, with USB debugging turned off (in settings), plug in the USB cable. Be sure to always use the USB cable that came with the tablet.
    5. Make sure the USB drivers are installed for the Rockchip device. (see the First Time User's Guide for details, if you are having trouble)
    6. You should see the tablet recognized by "Found One MSC Device" in the bottom of the tool.
    7. Click the "Switch" button to reboot the tablet to flash mode. The screen will turn black.
    8. Click "LowerFormat". It will count to 100% (very quickly).
    9. Click "Run".
    10. When the flash is finished, the tablet will boot into stock recovery and will format your partitions.
    11. First boot will take a little longer than usual...just be patient and watch the boot animation.
    12. Once the tablet boots to the system...you will have a fresh, rooted system to work with.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    English as default language
    init.d support added
    Busybox commands added
    Google Play Store fixes added
    Reboot app by Petrus
Your choice of 2, 6, 12gb user app space (select the parameter file you want to flash)

Thanks to Geekbuying.com for providing me this and many other Pipo tablets to develop.

    Download Wifi Only Version

    Download 3G Version

    Enjoy!!!!

    Please.....Don't forget to donate.

The new AndroidTool looks different. I was guessing I should hit Switch, then LowerFormat, then Run. But when I hit Run, it got error as follows:

I got it to work by unchecking the first line, Loader.

For the first time, I have no problems flashing with latest RileyROM 1.3

I did not even uncheck the first line, Loader.

I managed to install RileyROM 1.3 – the Wi-Fi version without any issues.

          I'm using a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32-bit laptop.

          This is my procedure:
          1. Remove SD card.
          2. Uncheck USB Debugging.
          3. Connect Pipo P1 with Laptop by using Pipo’s original USB cable.
          4. Start Android Tool and accept all default settings.
          5. Click on the switch button.
          6. Click on the lower format button.
          7. Click on the run button.
          8. Wait… Done!

Note! The format procedure goes very quick, so I doubt that it really runs the complete process.

I did not even remove the SD card. It had my titanium backups.

Sorry. This new tool does have the buttons labeled differently.

GPS is not working for me. I tried with GPS Test and GPS Status apps and they don't find any connections.
                Does it work for you?

I had to go to settings/location/ and turn switch from battery savings to full. Then I started picking up satellites.

Strange, because I tried with options:
                    - Device only (Use GPS only).
                    - High accuracy (Use GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile network).

Non of them gives any connections.
My mobile phone finds about 5 to 7 connections.

                      The setup takes a while.

I turned mine on and ran the GPS Test app. After about 30 minutes I have 4 satellites in view and it has located me to within 630 feet. I'll leave it on and see if it gets any better.

Hello riley, i'm for trying avoid some errors i have since i have my pipo P1. I got a lot of Force Close in app that they did run well with my previous tablet (old bq edison), so i think the firmware for the P1, or RK3288 in general, is not solid yet, or it is incompatible for some reason.

Any of you noticed some FC like me and some apps or games? i tried stock rom from PIPO, riley v1.1 and I just flashed v1.3. Hope it wont happen more with 1.3

Can I copy/post your rom into the best spanish cell/tablets forum htcmania.com?

Where did you get the firmware? If I look at the site of Pipo.cn I can't find the new firmware.

The updates I get are from Pipo developers/testers. Because of that, we are actually seeing a progression of improvements...sometimes every few days. Since each has a bit of improvement on at least something, I'm trying to make a new ROM for everyone to try from each version I get.

I'm sure that once Pipo is satisfied with a particular version, they will post it on their site.

So, I'm afraid, I'm your only source at the moment (unless custom ROM developers from other sites have my same sources).
