sadly but these instructions came too late for me. Appearently my preloader was damaged during the flash attempt. So no further reflash attempts with your or stock firmwares were succesfull.
My Chuwi is on the way to China; hopefully the vendor can repair or replace it...

I think that the issue was caused by my desktop PC. It really took a long time to load the flashtool.
Then after I've all done correctly and pressed the download button nothing happened for about 10 minutes. So I disconnected the tablet but I couldn't start it any more.
Later I tried to reflash with an acient XP laptop. Everything ran really smooth and much faster than with the quad core Win7 desktop but I couldn't save anything - and I tried a lot.

I've had the best luck loading the drivers with the PDAnet app I've included in the ROM kit.

The mode for flashing is to just turn the tablet off and disconnect USB. Click the download button one the flash tool and plug in the USB. Here's a more detailed set of instructions, covering all of the bases:

The problem is that we don't currently have a custom recovery for this tablet. All of my efforts to try to make a CWM Recovery have failed, and I've requested Abdul_pt to make a TWRP recovery for this tablet.

    Back Up NVRAM/IMEI
Back up your NVRAM/IMEI data before flashing this ROM or you will loose your phone calling support, forever. You can easily do this by:

    1. Turn your tablet off.
    2. Install the PDAnet app included in the ROM kit to install the drivers. (If you haven't done so yet)
    3.
Open the flash tool on your Windows PC.
    4. Load the scatter file as prompted...it's in the RileyROM folder of the ROM kit.
    5. Uncheck everything from the list of files to flash except recovery.img.
    6. Browse by clicking the recovery.img line in the flash tool, and select CWM_Recovery.img.
    7. Click Download (with Download Only setting on the flash tool)
    8. Connect the USB to your tablet.
    9. When the flash has completed (a box will show up saying so), unplug the USB from your tablet.
    10. Hold the Vol+ button and press power. Your tablet will boot to CWM Recovery.
    11. Open the MTK Droid Tools app (located in the ROM kit).
    12. Connect USB to tablet and watch for your tablet info to populate on the MTK Droid Tool.
    13. Click the IMEI/NVRAM button.
    14. Click Backup. (Your Backup will be in the Backup folder of the MTK Droid Tools folder.)
    15. Disconnect your USB when the backup is complete.
    16. Press the power button to reboot to system.

    Now, the Flash Instructions
    1. Be sure you backed up your NVRAM/IMEI data above.

    2. Open the flash tool.
    3. Click the Scatter-loading button and browse to the scatter file in the RileyROM folder.
    4. Select the desired EBR1 and EBR2 files for the user app space size you wish to create. They MUST MATCH.
    5. Use the Download Only mode.
    6. Turn the tablet off.
    7. Click the Download button.
    8. Connect the USB to your tablet.
    9. Watch the activity at the bottom of the screen.
10 A green X will appear indicating you are done with the download.
    11. With the tablet off, hold the vol+ button and press power until the tablet powers up...you will go into recovery.
    12. Using the volume buttons and the power button navigate through recovery and do a "wipe/factory reset".
    13. Boot to system.
    14. Your tablet will boot to KitKat. Wait a few minutes for any apps to appear in the app drawer that you've placed in the autoinstall folder. (Be careful not to over use the autoinstall feature. This is for just a few necessary apps like a terminal or file explorer app. You can add the main Titanium app to autoinstall, but the key app won't work this way.)

Please help us root this phone

I have tried a lot of methods (also vroot that was mentioned above) but nothing seems to work. I am not experienced and I want just to root it without touching anything else. Can you help us?

Well, that's a real problem. I can't seem to make a CWM using the MTK Droid Tools on this one. The file configuration is different.

    Thank you for your reply.
I tried to root it with Root Genius, Vroot, SRSRoot, ZhuoDaShi but with no luck. None of the previous software rooted my Tablet.
Can someone help me with this?

I would only recommend using the default EBR files or the 4gb pair. I didn't know the tablet had only 8gb of NAND memory when I was writing the EBRs.

I will let one of the users who actually has one if these tablets help you with manually rooting. Many people have good luck with Root Genius.

    Root and install CWM recovery

    Hi,
i have CHUWI VX8 Tablet (this one http://www.pandawill.com/chuwi-vx8-t...te-p90914.html).

Can I install the Chuwi Riley Rom V1.1? Which EBR I must choose?

How can I root my device, install CWM Recovery and take a back up before I install Chuwi Riley Rom V1.1?

    Thank you in advance.

It appears you tablet is stuck in some other mode than flash mode.

These MTK tablets don't have a reset button on the back...so unless you want to open the cover and disconnect the battery, you can just let the battery drain all the way down (which will reset the tablet).

Give it a while and come back to it. Connect your tablet to USB with download clicked in the flash tool.

Go over the instructions carefully. Be sure all of the required components are checked on the list of files to flash.
