Finless ROM "tweaker" for the Neo X8 stock ROM BETA 008

hi, thanks for this great tweaker! i`ve got just one little issue. i hate the navigation bar and i dont need it anymore since i`ve mapped its functions into my wireless keyboard. is there a way to get rid of it permanently? i can hide it, yes, but all the icons and widgets are moved up some inches and it doesnt look cool; i1ve tried some apps and even xframe modules to solve it but they haven`t worked. can you help me pls? i think i didn`t have this issue before installing the tweak.

Since you are rooted do the following
1) Download ES File Explorer
2) Run it and on the menu on the left click enable root explorer (or something like that).
Respond yes to the superuser prompt.
3) Click on that yet again and a dialog will pop up. Enable system as RW.
4) Navigate to /system/priv-app/ and find SystemUI.apk
5) Rename SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.old
6) Reboot and bottom bar will be gone.

This does get rid of the navigation bar and "pushes down" the UI again, but unfortunately it also removes the wallpaper and there's no way to set it back again if I don't rename the SystemUI to APK again.

If only these damn random soft reboots can be given the boot. These occur particularly after after watching Flash content/streaming via Dolphin Browser.

That's what's causing reboots. Dolphin is known to cause issues with flash player mod. It's very unstable and 'sometimes' works.

Finless, would it be possible to modify your tweaker (add new feature) in that way, that we could use XBMC as standard launcher too? So we could switch in "Settings" between Metro/Standard/XBMC.

Do you suggest the Stock Browser or another, like Boat?

That said, since flashing one of the the CPU Fixes in the Finless 1.0 ROM Package onto the Beta 008-002 it has not rebooted in 6 days now..

That could be because flashing the package has reverted you back to the original kernel.....

I installed this rom on saturday. I also installed spmc from play store. I did try to install from the website but it would not open the non launcher version for some reason. Just says cannot open file. Anyway been using it all weekend and it is great. Not had any problems whatsoever. No reboots.

Hi Bob,

First off, thanks for providing us with the Finless ROM.

Can I ask if the provided tweaker is for X8 only or does it work with X8-H too?

The reasons I am asking this is because my X-8H can't decode DTS track on MXPlayer after doing the below steps:
1) Flash to Minix Neo X8/X8-H Stock BETA 008 from this belwo thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ble-ZIP-format
2) Flash with the Finless ROM "tweaker" supplied in post 1.

My X-8H was decoding DTS well before I apply the tweak. Running Antutu also identify the device as X-8 instead of X-8H now. Could this be the issue?

Any advise is appreciated.

P/s the same MKV file plays well with the 4Kplayer. Only the MXPlayer is having issue with the DTS audio track (error msg about Audio track not supported).

Maybe you are right, maybe it could be a problem...
But do you know the "MX Player Custom Codec with DTS Support" at XDA?

I googled and read-up on it.
As I am not very technical, my understanding is that solution uses software decoding for the DTS track.
Is it the same as Minix X8-H original way of decoding DTS?

Also, this doesn't really solve my issue as somehow the box is now recognise as X8 instead of X8-h. So I am worried in the long run, some other problems might crop up with other apps recognising the box wrongly.

Yes, software decoding, but the SoC is power full enough...

If you thought about palystore, than generally you will maybe get the same problems with x8-h as with x8...
If you thought about other app will using hardware decoding, than maybe yes...
