First off, thanks for providing us with the Finless ROM.

Can I ask if the provided tweaker is for X8 only or does it work with X8-H too?

The reasons I am asking this is because my X-8H can't decode DTS track on MXPlayer after doing the below steps:
    1) Flash to Minix Neo X8/X8-H Stock BETA 008 from this belwo thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ble-ZIP-format
    2) Flash with the Finless ROM "tweaker" supplied in post 1.

My X-8H was decoding DTS well before I apply the tweak. Running Antutu also identify the device as X-8 instead of X-8H now. Could this be the issue?

    Any advise is appreciated.

P/s the same MKV file plays well with the 4Kplayer. Only the MXPlayer is having issue with the DTS audio track (error msg about Audio track not supported).
No one else has reported this but it could be because I enabled device spoofing and when I do that the H model does not show up in settings.
If you still have a problem I can make a boot.img with spoofing removed so it will be an X8-H.
Also you could try editing build.prop and set it to a X8-H instead of X8.

I got my X8-H a week ago and I am so sad that it reboots every 30 min or so. Haven't been able to finish a movie without it rebooting a few times. I hadn't touched any roms till today, I was having reboots on the stock rom so decided to try the beta 8 and your tweaker and cpu fix but it still reboots, just now its a full black screen whereas before it displayed the minix logo for a few seconds. I've noticed that it reverts from 1080p back to 720p sometimes, is it just mine that does this?

The X8-H has so many good reviews, how come no one ever mentions this problem?
Is there anything else worth trying to sort out the reboots?

mmm yeah I guess could be guys trying to sell units
doing quick reviews, I didn't dig into forums looking up info on the X8,
I just read a lot about minix boxes on xda and people love them.
Busy trying different combinations hoping it finds stability.

I've checked CPU temps and they range upto 70-80c in the day and 40-50c at night,
I doubt thats whats causing the reboots.

even though I set the min speed to 1200mhz?

Now its in the 40s at night but still randomly reboots, I've been on beta 8 and 7 with the tweaks etc, now I'm trying beta 2...

Edit: So far beta 2 hasn't rebooted after 90 minutes of 1080p video, too early to tell if it'll stay like this but its so far the longest it's gone without restarting.

If you thought about other app will using hardware decoding, than maybe yes...
Noted with thanks. Guess I will try out the method you mention at XDA.

Ok, I will try to edit build.prop. Will google how to do it.

On a similar note, it seem the lost of Audio is not due to the box being recognise as X8-H.
I did a restore to "Minix Neo X8/X8-H Stock BETA 008" and the box is recognise as X8-H in settings. And MX player played the DTS track fine for a while. But as the subtitles was missing, I change the setting in MX player to display embedded subtitles as well as download MX Player Arm7 NEON Coded from Playstore.
Now DTS track error appears again while subtitle issue is resolved.
                      Strange...

Bob, is there anyway you could do a tweaker without the theme? Or is there anyway I could remove it myself? Reason being my preference leans towards the minimalist.

                      Thanks in advanced!

                        Hi Bob,

Guess I might need your help with a boot.img with spoofing removed (and if it is not too troublesome, the theme removed too).
I edited the build.prop but encountered error saving the changes afterwards.
I use ES File Exlorer and went to "System -> build.prop" to edit with ES Note Editor.
There was quite a few entry with "Neo X-8" but I only change the one at ro.product.model... should I have done for the rest too? Regardless, I could not save the changes. Just a generic error message saying there was an error saving your file or something.

                        Thanks in advance.

In ES file explorer after turning on root explorer, click that root explorer line again and you will get a pop up window. enable /system as RW. You cannot save without doing that as system is RO by default.

Thanks. Got that done and it is now showing X8-H under Settings -> Mediabox -> Model number.

There were a few other entries in build.prop that still shows "NEO-X8", should I change them too?

Nope you do not need to change those. Only the Model is tweaked by Minix in boot.img to detect H vs non-H.

Let me know if that works. Maybe next time I spoof all boxes to -H model
