Sounds like I somehow fixed it so here is my question....how? Is holding both volume buttons "flashing" whereas just volume up got me to twrp? Just trying to understand because this stuff fascinates me.
    Thanks for all the help
I am not sure why, but I think it was just the double reboot that solved the issue... maybe because the of the parameter size change...

Im guesing it asked you to delete an update.img file from your external sd so it wouldnt prompt to reinstall every reboot...

Check your internal sdcard to verify it mounted, if not, it will need to be wiped or reformatted in twrp for the new size.

    I completed the following

    1) verified my build was compatible
    2) dowloaded installed TWRP to external SD through my computer and put in nextbook and booted, everything seemed to work fine
    3) downloaded 4gb partition to external SD through my computer and put in nextbook and booted through TWRP (held power button with volume up)
    4) downloaded OS again to external SD through my computer and flashed through TWRP
    5) did factory restore 3 - 4 x without any luck

I went ahead and redownloaded the OS just in case to place on the microsd through the computer and currently attempting to reflash the OS in hopes of resolving my problem.

Nervous because this is a Christmas gift for my son and I was just hoping to get more space for his games and make the system more user friendly.

Any help is greatly appreciated for this newbie.

I would first try whatever you were using previously... If you are using stock recovery and flashing an update.img format, the update includes a parameter file... which is one reason problems occur. You want to flash again with the same thing to insure the parameters are the same...

Sorry man... I know the stock recovery and stock update.img ROM format are a little flakey, but I've never had so much trouble installing them... I think I'm out of ideas...

It sounds like your system partition either failed to flash or flashed to the wrong location in NAND memory...

Are you still able to boot to recovery? If so, you need to try to flash again...

If not, you'll have to use the PC flashing tool...

Also, the stock recovery and official update don't seem to reformat the /data and /sdcard partitions correctly.

After flashing you might have to reboot to stock recovery, wipe data, then boot to Android, then go to settings and do a factory reset with the erase sdcard option checked.

Thank you. I tried that but it is proving to be problematic. I'll give it another shot.
