    Re: Polaroid PMID702c & PMIC703 CM10 Jelly Bean Compatibility

If you find anything that works, be sure and share with our community here. There's plenty of stuff around for the allwinner 13 processor, its just a matter of it being compatible with the rest of the hardware.

on step 4 the text that comes up on screen say "Poraroid."

As an aside, I wish Christian would offer a slim Rom, there is so much bloat, Rom Manager and Adobe Air as system apps? Really?
where do I get the emulator. Am I supposed to download it to the PC? I'm lost. I tried the emulator app but when I tried the command Sh install-recover.sh it said permission denied.

CM10 compatibility boot image for Polaroid PMID702c, PMID703c, & PMID7Xc (might work on other A13 tablets - UNKNOWN) that will allow you to run Christian Troy's Allwinner A10 CM10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1821398

this is only a modified factory boot.img that allows you to run CM10 / JellyBean, this is still using the factory kernel at this time.

          PMID702c Compatibility Needed Files

download all the files in the above link and save to your devices external sdcard "/mnt/extsd"

download CM10 from link above for Christian Troy's Allwinner A10 CM10

extract "pmid702c-recovery.zip" to the root of the internal sdcard "/sdcard"
          from terminal emulator run:

          #cd /sdcard
          #sh install-recovery.sh

after completed run to reboot into recovery (recovery can be accessed by holding the menu key down and holding power button down release when polaroid logo shows up)

          #sh reboot-recovery.sh

          recovery navigation is:
vol-up highlight up, vol-down highlight down, power button selects,

          or through touch
swipe up and down to highlight
swipe to the right over highlighted to select or press select button at bottom of screen.
          swipe left to go back

          CM10 / JellyBean INSTALLATION
          (FULL SYSTEM WIPE IS REQUIRED)

BACK-UP YOUR DEVICE TO EXTERNAL SDCARD BEFORE YOU BEGIN

follow this order for flashing ROM to device,

          (1st Factory Reset)
select Go Back until you get to 1st Recovery Screen
          select wipe data/factory reset
select Yes - delete all user data

(2nd wipe device so our install is clean)
          select install zip from sdcard
select choose zip from external sdcard
          select ROM_WIPER.zip
          select Yes - Install ROM_WIPER.zip

          (3rd install CM10 / JellyBean base)
select choose zip from external sdcard
select "highlight your downloaded CM10 ROM"
          select Yes - Install

          (4th install CM10_Polaroid-PMID702c_20120830.zip)
select choose zip from external sdcard

          (8th Reboot)
          select reboot system now

          (9th Wait)
1st boot takes a while be patient let it sit and do its thing i personally recommend at this point you take a 15 minute break grab a cold one and relax and let the device build its cache and settle down.

          Known Bugs

Camera - is not fully working yet can't take pictures crashes camera and gallery not sure if this affects video chat apps or not. (there is an alternative compatibility patch you can use up: it has the camera libs from CT preview4, though it is not a total fix some times you have to open and close the camera a few times to get the camera to connect. still looking into the issue but it seems to be a known issue for several allwinner tablets.)

Added MountAllwinner.apk use this app to mount SDCARD for PC connection or:

          * If you have issues with Tablet -> PC connection use an app to transfer files via WiFi, like "Airdroid". Or use the script "mass-storage" as workaround. To use it open terminal emulator and type these commands:
          Code:

          su
          mass-storage enable

          [ do your stuff ]

          mass-storage disable

          WHere is the terminal emulator?

You can get the factory image and livesuite from Southern Telecom's site. That's the company that actually makes the Polaroid tablets.

If my experience with other cm10 builds is any indication, try turning the volume all the way down and back up. (In system sound settings, though the volume buttons might work for some sounds.

I had the same problem, was fine on 8/30 compatability and 8/22 rom, upgraded rom and compatability to latest and lost sound, going back did NOT fix it, even going back to CM9 didn't get my sound back. Finally, instead of using rom wiper, I formatted everything through "Mounts and storage" and went back to 8/30 comp and 9/02 rom and got my sound back, but as an aside, Netflix won't work.

Update, this Netflix works if anyone else is having problems http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1546053

You lost me here. The tutorials I am using dont say anything about this subject. I am using the kitchen tool kit. Got a link or something I can study please about this?

FYI I am in a Ubuntu 32bit VM (Virtual box). Might that be the issue as I noticed the tool kit suggested a 64bit OS? I do have a dual boot 64bit Unbuntu I can use but I prefer the VM because livesuite etc is windows. Just makes it faster for me to test ROMs rather than rebooting all the time.

In a classic Linux/Intel system, the bios would try and use the boot loader to bring up the system.
With the old lilo, the kernel needed to be in a know place on the disk. If it moved from that place the system would not boot. With grub, it knows file systems and what to look for so you can move the kernel around and still get it to boot.

With these tablets I suspect that there is just enough of a BIOS to setup the hardware and let the kernel do the rest of the work to get the hardware up and running.

There are projects to have linux bios setup. Just like above.

So here are some links of interest.

Tried the boot nuclear compatibility with quarx's latest nightly, auto screen rotation wasn't working, didn't try anything else before rolling back.

I was only looking for Google Play!!!

So I saw the Polaroid PMID702C at Big Lots and have been wanting to get an Android tablet for some time now. The time was right and I bought one. I was disappointed to find out it didn't have any of the Google Apps that I love on my SGS2. Not even Play Store to add my favorite apps.
I have spent time on XDA forums for both my old Captivate SGS and my current SGS2 i777 so I have some experience in flashing and backing up and such. I found a couple methods of adding Play Store to the PMID702C that worked with some success on the stock ROM but not the way I felt it should.

I have never tried any of the CM Roms on my Samsung phones but have always been curious about them.
I stumbled across this post for CM10 on the Polaroid and decided to try it out.

Edit** I had some trouble getting the recovery to install with an on device terminal emulator but remembered that I have ADB on my laptop so used it in shell mode to get the recovery installed**end edit.

In the OP step 4 it lists CM10_Polaroid-PMID702c_20120830.zip that wasn't in the compatibility zip anywhere. Of course I didn't look for it till I was into the flash. Yikes. Long story short, I flashed the CM10_BOOT-NUCLEAR-MT7000-Kernel-v2.1a.zip in its place and hoped for the best. It was either that or reflash the stock ROM and start over.

Simply Awesome is what it is by comparison to the original ICS and the V2 update that is available for the tablet. Now I have Jelly Bean and all the Play Store I could want. All seems to be running fine for the time being and I am looking forward to watrching some movies on it during my next flight cross country coming up in a few days then putting it to work with the Race Monitor App at the track.

Thanks [email protected] for your diligent efforts to make this possible for us all.

I decided to try the newest compatibility again with CT's last CM10 release, flawless! Best Antutu scores ever and reliably enters Deep Sleep, something it hadn't been doing.

                              New Stuff

I just noticed there is some new stuff in the Polaroid-PMID702c_CM10 Compatibility Folder.
Not sure how or if I should proceed with any changes.
                              Anyone try anything yet?

both work with the PMID702c hyper-mali is what im running now, 4311 is just there as another alternative kernel, i personally think the mt7000 is the fastest, new zips will be out over the weekend .
