Hey these! I'm new here, Just tot my Pipo P9 for two weeks now and i really Like it.
However sometimes it turns itself off when the tablet is in standby (so the screen is Just black) and you hear a 'click' and then it's Just off and you have to restart it.
Although it's not that big of a deal someone said that this is a problem in the stock ROM and the rileyrom 1.7 should fix it. Can you confirm this?
And I got the Wi-Fi version so, will that one also be avaiable soon?
Anyway thanks!

I found a strange WiFi behaviour in this FW. WiFi seems to work fine until I insert sim card into tablet and then it drops immediately.
I also realized that I'm able to connect to WiFi, but password length should be limited (mine is 29 symbols and it doesn't work, but 12 symbols password works).

More Wi-Fi issues
Hi all,
More Wi-Fi problems here
Wi-Fi signal strength drops to 0 eventually and it's nearly impossible to get it back again, while in other devices in the same place (mobile and laptop) I have a signal strength of 80%.
I'm running RileyRom 1.7 with the 3G version of the tablet with the SIM card inserted too. I'll try without it and let you know.
BR
Edit: After removing the SIM card, not much difference (if not the same).
Anyway, at least with this release, the Wifi signal is much lower compared with my old tablet and other devices I have.
This is the first ROM I installed on this tablet. Could someone tell us if the WiFi works better on other RileyROM releases? I use my tablet to work and it's quite annoying to start configuring everything over and over again

My Pipo is the third day on 1.7 and no new issues appeared except that one with password length. I've been forced to add one more access point to my home net, but this time with much easier password.
Seems that is global Android 4.4.2 issue, not particularly RR 1.7 as I got exactly the same behaviour on 1.6.
By the way, no issues with WiFi and GPS so far on 1.7...

After further testing, I found that the Wi-Fi bw is just about 100Kb with a signal strength of 40% that means about -70dB. With other tablet or phone, located at the same place, I have 60% SS meaning -50dB approx. with a 12.4 Mb.
Could someone do other comparisons to see if the P9 model has any issue with Wi-Fi (other than the 4.4.2 issue)?
Edit: More testing:
Pinging the tablet wifi interface, it shows that when I lose connection (even though the tablet is aparently yet connected to the wifi network) from the tablet to the network the Wi-Fi interface stops responding to pings for some minutes or even until I poweroff/poweron the wifi, so it seems the NIC stops working for some reason.
Edit2: more testing:
I've tried with other WiFi network and switching between channels (can't remember where, but I read somewhere that there was some issues with some tablets if not running in the first channels) and the problem remains.

Btw, all the Wi-Fi networks I've connected to works in G mode, could be something related with the tablet trying to switch to 5Ghz? and after some minutes come back to 2.4GHz and that's when it begin to work again???
For Nexus devices there's an option under Wi-Fi's Advance Options to do such thing on rooted devices, but I've been searching for this on the P9 and it's not there. I've also take a look at /etc/wifi to find something interesting to mess with, but in the wpa_supplicant.conf and wpa_supplicant_overlay.conf I've found just the basics. (There's another p2p_supplicant_overlay.conf but It seems to me they are related to direct wifi.
Does someone have deeper knowledge about what can be done in the Wi-Fi files or somewhere else to avoid such a strange behaviour?
Sometimes the wifi starts working after a minute, and sometimes need to be disabled/enabled
Edit: I've read something related to non response of ARP if in sleep mode, but P9's nework interface stops responding even without going to sleep... also read that the supplicant can be set to log in debbug mode, maybe this way I can figure out what's happening with the wifi to stop responding. Any help?Last edited by ivia; 04 December 2014, 14:08.

Any help?) I ended landing on a Riley's post about WiFi variations between Pipo tablets of the same model due the poor manufacturing of the antennas cables.
I've had the opportunity to compare the Signal with another tablet (the second tablet is much much cheaper) and the results are clear:
P9: -60db with intermitent conenction to the Network
Chepaer tablet: -40 dB with strong and stable connection to the Network
Guys, this has nothing to do with the ROM, nor the files (at least in my opinion), the most probably it has to do with the wifi cables of the antennas and their poor manufacturing of them. Some of us suffered this with previous Pipo's models and it seems this guys keep manufacturing the same way. The WiFi of some of our tablets work flawlessly, and for others we have this "shit" of Wi-Fi cables manufacturing.
I must say that by far this is the best tablet I've had in my hand, and I've had some few, and this is the most solid, quick, and best tablet in general... but sometimes shit happens.
Good luck all out there, and thanks Randy for this marvelous ROM. Keep up the good job.Last edited by ivia; 04 December 2014, 21:39.
