Hi biri80bcn, maybe its a better idea just put the tablet in airplane mode and re-enable wifi again to get rid of battery drain and so, or maybe you can go to Settings > Apps and scroll over to the All tab for a complete list of your apps and disable phone related services/apps.

Btw, I think the line you're searching for of the build.prop is:

    • hw.nophone=true(No Phone Chip, True / False, Should be True for a Tablet with no Phone Chip)

Probably you'll also need to disable those phone related apps or you'll get constant app crashes, but maybe some developer/expert can help you better than me.

Un saludo y no que rompas nada!

I was hoping for a wifi only update firmware, since this one is only 3G.

I can put together a wifi only version. Stay tuned.

See post #1 for a wifi version of this ROM...with more aggressive build.prop tweaks to save battery.

          Faster than light!!! hahaha

Thanks a lot for your hard work Randy. For my problem with the Wi-Fi (I own the 3G version of the tablet) I'll contact my supplier to ask for a DoA of the tablet since it seems to be Hw related (their post-sales service is 10/10!)

One consistent problem we've seen with Pipo tablets...just a few...is a bad solder connection where the wifi antenna attaches to the main board. You might check that. I think there's a thread in the main Pipo section on how Finless fixed his M9 Pro.

Absolutely. The point is that it's a brand new tablet and I don't want to lose the warranty, you know. I've seen the post you're talking about, and it's a must see for anyone that has Wi-Fi issues (and no warranty!) hehehe

              Thanks again and take care!

                  Hi Randy,

I've been thinking about purchasing either the Pipo P9 or P4, but I have heard that the stock ROM doesn't have the initial setup screen which allows accessibility to be enabled by pressing and holding two fingers on the screen, and as I am visually impaired, this means that I can't start using the tablet without sighted assistance.

Since you're the developer of the Riley ROM, would it be possible for you to implement a way to start the TalkBack screen reader independently, e.g. by pressing some of the physical buttons a certain number of times or by drawing a specific gesture?

                  Thanks for your help!

                  Jani

That's an interesting request. I will have to do some research and experiment with both my P9 and my P4.

There is a way to customize the key map for external buttons....I just don't do it enough to remember how to explain it off the top of my head.

I'm working today, but will have time tomorrow to play with it.

If anyone else has the answer...please chime in.

I installed the 1.7 wifi, and I think that is the same as the 3G version ... exactly the same, even occupies the same.

when up or down the volume, modify the telephone volume, not the overall volume

Ya.. I almost got that instead if the p9. What did it in for me tho is I had an m9, so I knew what to expect with pipo, you had already cooked a custom ROM, I've heard 9.7 isn't as good for movies, and no GPS on the Onda. The two biggest was probably GPS and ROM.. Didn't wanna end up with an unusable tablet due to firmware. On a plus note there is an article out there with an RK3288 running lollipop via Rockchip, so they're working on it..but we all know how pipo likes to take their time.

Don't get me wrong...I love Pipo's products. But the trouble with Pipo is that they aren't big enough to multi-task. They have a one track mind.

Right now, their focus is on a whole line of Windows tablets that are taking up all of their resources. I am in no way interested in developing Windows based tablets...I do have one, but there's really nothing special about it. Anything you can do on a desktop or laptop is there for sure, but in a smaller package.

I'm told that newer Pipo RK models will appear sometime next year...so out of shear boredom...I'm branching out to other Soc's to try and learn. It took me a while to learn MTK's...and now I'm learning Allwinner ROM's...so that's the reason I have an Onda on the way (thanks to Eric at Geekbuying).

If I only had one tablet...like most people...or if I had to pick one as my goto device...right now it would definitely be my P9...a very good tablet all the way around.

Currently, though...I'm switching around a lot to test features/ROM's I've been working on. So my Tapatalk signature is always changing...depending on which device I have at the moment. I'm in the middle of a project on the M8HD...which seems to be in my hands most often, lately (which isn't too shabby either...I love the form factor..but it's a 3188). The P7 should be out in a few months with the same case as the M8 Pro and M8HD (I have one of each of those...and really like the case...it's very unique).

Anyone else have massive battery drain on 1.7 wifi? My battery drops 2.5% an hour, versus 2.5% every 10 hours on 1.51.

*edit* just checked CPUspy after a reboot and 8 minutes of doing completely nothing; no deep sleep and nearly 8 minutes running at 126Mhz. Deep Sleep is listed as an unused cpu state, together with the usual 1704 & 1800Mhz.
