You think the Linux situations going to improve anytime soon? Considering about this device for the primary purpose of running Linux I'm a little bit concerned my investment might be down the hole by the purchase price.

It seems to me this can't be fixed by the community unless they're given access to the correct or optimized drivers.

New Lubuntu image now available at the Tronsmart forum. It has the new h/w accelerated drivers! 1080p file streaming via NAS using VLC is very smooth. Youtube in Chrome browser not smooth enough, but improved.

A big step forward, nonetheless because it indicates that Allwinner has joined hands with Tronsmart to deliver much better video drivers. Also network performance - both Wi-Fi and Ethernet - is excellent.

Am unable to install Kodi from team-xbmc/ppa. Get the error "distribution template for Linaro/Trusty not found." Anyone who figures this out, please post your method.

Openelec is bound to follow next - and soon!

I cannot get the correct screen size and do not know how to change it to fit my screen

so the desktop is not full, the bottom important bar is missing

I'll try to fix it if I can

Are you able to install from a .deb file with dpkg -i ? Meaning, is it a problem with the package or the repo?

It may be an issue with the Sources.list entries, which don't include the Kodi ppa or dependencies.

Tronsmart has released a new Linux ROM with hardware acceleration but is still working on the 4K and h.265 video playback. also xbmc linux support is in the works.

If you visit the forums to say thanks for their hard work.

With their post to download don't let PhoenixSuit 1.06 update to 1.09. Error messages generated "cannot run on this PC"
                    I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit Pro reference

                      Congratulations!

                      But it's only the beginning

Tested a high bit rate 1080P mkv and it's, because of big stutters at vlc, unwatchable...
                      (e.g. have a look at 'Stutter-003(some).mkv' http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post265444)

BTW: Where is my RAM I'm missing 0.8 GB, but I think it's the same as at Android where I'm also missing 0.4 GB...

Guys i need few things from you if you can help me out

Can any of you create an excel spreadsheet that lists out each issue, date/firmware version, and the testing conditions for each issue?

I have a clear and open contact with Allwinner R&D Team and they
will do their best to investigate and it will help if you guys can organize these issues in a clear list.

                          Thank you a lot.

                          Ovi

I'm using the image which deadhp1 created

but because it needs a 16GB SD card I modified it a little bit so you are also able to burn it at every >= 8GB SD card (because the RFS is 5GB)...

I modify it this way (changing the partition table):

but got the same error (maybe partition to small?)
But it seems not to be important because the PC tool at windows seems to use the rest of the SD card at that partition which the "system" doesn't need and windows isn't able to access ...

At last I dumped the part of the SD which is corresponding with the partition-table (End at 1 (here 10657800)) + 1 sector as reserve...

Thank you deadhp1 for the linux-sd-version,

today I got my allwinner-a80-box (it's an "InstaBox Fantasy A8"). Your linux-version runs out of the box from the sd-card.
My only problem: I got no sound (from AV). I don't think it's a compatibilty problem with this box, because the draco aw80
                              - Finless 1.1 - ROM works great with this device (including sound).

Has someone an idea, how to configure sound?

                              Thanks in advance

                              Wolfgang

RKM MK80 Plus recognizes only 2.7 GB RAM

                                Hi,

I have got my RKM MK80 Plus box couple of days back which I ordered in Aliexpress.
I thought of using this box with Ubuntu and Installing Asterisk PBX Server on it which I have done in Radxa Rock and is working as expected.
Since this box contains much higher processing power and greater RAM I would like to install Ubuntu on it.
I tried installing Ubiuntu on this box as well as installed version on SD card. Below are my few observation

when booting Ubuntu it shows me some error wrt CPU
                                CPU4: failed to boot: -22
                                CPU5: failed to boot: -22
                                CPU6: failed to boot: -22
                                CPU7: failed to boot: -22

do we have any version of Ubuntu for this box which supports 4 GB RAM and also uses all the available memory present in the SD / EMMC Card in the box
