    Thread: ug802 Finless 1.5C -- BETA TEST #2 ROMs (dual ROM test)

    Ok folks.... here comes BETA 2. It has 2 versions of system.img. One 100% yuandao ROM and the other a more refined Yaundao ROM with more ug802 stuff working.
    I ASK THAT YOU FIRST TRY the 100% Yaundao ROM first for video/audio sync testing! PLEASE....

    Remember WE ARE TRYING to fix video/audio sync issues!!! That's all these BETA ROMs are about! Do not expect a refined ROM here!

    This BETA2 ROM is for POWER users only. I will NOT be making a BETA update.img package. You must use my Flash tool and have the drivers etc ready to go. If we fix the sync issues then YES I will make a update.img package as a final ROM.

    PLEASE READ the README in the package and what I ask you to do to flash this.


    Here is a summary of the readme:
    Note: Both the 2 system.img files are using the Yaundao EGL screen drivers, LIBs, etc.
    Expect some screen artifacts like twinkeling, dots, etc.
    We are trying to test sync issues not details. Once we find the GOAL, I will fix the other issues.
    But this could come down to the EGL drivers, etc. We shall see from testing!

    There are 2 system.img files in this beta test!
    1) SystemBETA2a.img which is a complete Yaundao system.img. Lets see if it has sync issues at all?
    You will not be able to get into the ug802 advanced settings etc.
    To flash a new ROM again use the reboot APP and reboot to bootloader! ONLY WAY!
    Also YOU WILL need a physical USB keyboard.
    This ROM will NOT pop up a virtual keyboard so be ready for that.
    This ROM will have lots of stuff not working but wifi works, APPs work, etc
    Again this is to test sync issues PLEASE TRY IT even with all it's problems!

    2) SystemBETA2b.img which is a 98% Yaundao ROM but with ug802 resource files, etc so more works!
    Virtual keyboard works, advanced settings etc, etc etc.... BUT not everything works yet. e.g. screen stretch!
    To set HDMI resolution use the regular settings NOT the advance ug802 settings (it will crash).

    To flash this ROM system.img is not set by default! It will not flash unless you select one of the system.imgs
    On the right of the system line in the flash tool is a little empty box.
    Click it and navigate to FinlessROM folder and select one of the system.img files.
    Now erase NAND (IDB) and flash the entire ROM.

    Now to switch between the 2 system.img files.
    YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ERASE NAND and reflash the entire ROM.
    But I do ask that user data be erased. This happens when flashing misc.img.
    However, you are free to try switching without flashing misc.img thus installed apps and account settings will NOT be erased. But for best testing, flashing misc.img is prefered.

    So to switch between the 2 system.img files do the following
    1) Be on one of these ROMs already!
    2) Run the flash tool
    3) Uncheck everything except MISC.img and one of the system.img files.
    If you want to try not erasing user data then also uncheck misc.img.
    4) In the ug802 run the reboot app and select "reboot bootloader"
    5) Now flash misc.img (optional) and system.img
    Easy peasy to switch to test everything!

      3 questions:
      1. You say I need a usb keyboard, does an air mouse count ? (has a keyboard built in)

      2. "Advanced settings" is not available. Do you mean the "Settings" menu in its entirety or just the ug802 stock settings-app ?

      3. Is it possible to install ES file explorer (or something similar) via the market app, so I can access my NAS and test some video files ?

        >The ug802 advanced menu does NOT exisist in the ROM. So you wont be able to do some thing you can on the ugt802 ROM.

        3. Is it possible to install ES file explorer (or something similar) via the market app, so I can access my NAS and test some video files ?
        > Yes it's rooted and all APPs should work! So yes!

                That is WHAT I expected.
                The EGL and OpenGL drivers are not optimized in the ug802 ROM! I knew it... But lets wait to see what others say. One person is not a test.

                I bet you will find BETAb works well too! Please try it now.

                Also, are you getting any screen artifacts like random pixels blinking etc?

                I WILL fix this ROM and the ug802 will be a good device! Lets see if I can make that happen

                I am VERY excited about this first user test result!
                I spent a HELL of a lot of time today (like 8 hours) perfecting this... I hope it pans out!

                  No artifacts so far, screen out of borders a bit, nothing else.

                  Please can you leave screen lock in your rom if it's possble.

                    Yes I can.. those things are EASY to do... it's all the resource files and settings. So no issue there.

                    I see blinky aritfacts on my screen. That is some VERY hard to see random blinking pixels when running things like Antutu bench mark... BY THE WAY... Antutu posted a wopping 7200 for me on this ROM

                    Can you please try BETAb system and let me know if you get the same video/audio sync results please.

                      SystemBETA2a.img is giving me 200-300ms lag on "Audio Video Sync (MP4), Alignment & latency test" youtube video. Seem slightly less/more out of sync each time I test.

                        systemBETA2b.img works same way 100% video player "1080p video" and youtube. you are genius can't wait for the proper rom

                        just checked over 20 youtube videos everything works 100% in mine opinion. but every video stops playing after 1.15 minutes.

                          I get 100% video and audio sync on all video test on systemBETA2b.img. 1080p works great too! just played a 10gb file through wifi and played perfectly well no lags.
                          I did Antutu bench and got 6400 score and didn't see any artifacts.
                          Very happy overall!
