It does recognice.. Reboot is not needed.. Just copy the update.zip to internal flash or copy it to an usb stick and put it in your x7.. Then just wait till the popup comes to install the update.

For me it doesn't appear to recognise the file without a reboot, and I have waited several minutes. How often should the system poll for the file?

After a reboot, the prompt to update pops up almost immediately.

I played with the box for a good 2 hours or so and it never recognized it. As soon as I rebooted it popped up immediately on launch with an update ready.

Same for me as above. Had to reboot. But. Never tried it on USB stick
Pretty sure android is only checking root at startup or insertion of disk for update.zip
Maybe there is a way we can force it to check. But alas. A reboot isn't terribly painful

DD & DTS

I still have problems regarding DD & DTS sound.
No matter what I choose as soundmanager, I only get PCM instead of DD or DTS.
Of course in XBMC passthrough is selected in audio options and DD DTS capabel receiver is activated.

Is this a known problem?

I have no such problems. Here are a few suggestions:

• Test your clips with the standard RockChip Video Player
• Check your receiver if there's an option to switch between PCM and Bitstream (or if you have Stereo mode enabled)

I will try to re-install the rom and start from scratch.
My Harman Kardon receiver switches automatically between PCM and DD. I have HDMI connected and also spdif is possible.
HardwareGuru's previous rom (based on 4.2) worked great.

I will report the result of course.
